Healthy hobby or addiction??

Dancing has been my No.1 hobby since I ever started dancing about 2.5 years ago. First started with ballroom dancing and then later on I had the chance to dance with a modern dance friend and then ,to some extent, got addicted to learn modern dance . In my opinion modern dances look more graceful than ballroom dances and most people dancing modern dances are purer in their intentions when dancing. Also the environment is usually better than those dance halls where there only offer ballroom dances . Even though the tickets for modern dance halls are much higher, I still chose to go but what I feel a bit pitiful is that I can not satisfy my joy of dancing since there aren't too many dance leaders for just every client there and and those dance leaders are encouraged to get clients to book them for specialized dancing session with a payment of 200 yuans per night. So at times I can not dance as much as I want and feel like the enjoyment of dancing is incomplete. At times I'm tempted to order for a specific dancing session but I am only an ordinary worker and my financial situation does not allow me to do that very often . What's more I consider that it's a bit unworthy to spend 200 per time job for having a temporayy dance partner ...My situation is a bit tricky, isn't it? Have I gone too far when it comes to dancing ? Should I give up my fancy of learning modern dance ? Friends , please offer me your valuable ieads! Thank you!

Hi 19jasmine, Interesting:) Okay well i personally think that there is a thin line between addiction and a hobby. In my opinion however even if your're hobby is addictive that is okay as long as it does not hinder other aspects of you're life... or those around you. I think it's healthy to do what you love. and hey you know what there are so many worse addictions that you could have. I envy the fact that you have a hobby that you are so passionate about!!!

Well,it's a hobby if you enjoy doing it in your sparetime but it's an addiction if it starts to give you some bad influences on your life. It causes problems in my life and I need to think about the costs issue If I want to fully satisfy my enjoyment of dancing. So I may take that it has some complications:) Thank all of the mylot friends who have sent me encouragements for keeping this beneficial hobby and I wish you all may be satisfied with your lives by having some exciting hobbies !

Well I guess if it cost you money it might be considered an addiction, but on the other hand as long as you don't have to re budget you're life its ok:) If you love it and it's not hurting anyone.. do it!!! Nike said it best:)

Hi, I know that dancing is a hobby, it's good for body to exercise, it's a beautiful art, but then I'm no good in dancing at all. I've tried as a teenager, a long time ago. Well, you haven't saw me, I'll guarantee you'll laugh . So, I gave up dancing years ago. I hope you can get a dancing partner that cost you nothing, just a partner with the same spirit of dancing. Good luck.

don't view it as a bad addiction. go for it! pursue your passion. Dancing is of course a healthy hobby. If you have the time and money to put into it, definitely continue it and don't let it stop. These days, people are so "busy" with their online activities and cellphones, etc, that we stopped appreciating more activities. again keep going!

Hi jasmine, dancing is a healthy hobby for me. Besides making me happy it also keep myself fit and proportionate. I do not wait to go to classes anymore since there is YouTube and i can choose from ballroom to belly dance to shuffling you name it besides that i can practice it myself without being embarrassed infront of others. After gaining the confidence and got my steps right i will then go out clubbing which i enjoyed more. I also sometimes or many times dance while doing housework. Try it and you ll love it. So keep your yuan to buy nice clothes.

Hello 19jasmine73 I think that your dancing is a wonderful thing. Not only is it great health, but I imagine that it is also healthy and fulfilling for you in so many other ways. Yes, you may not be in the financial sitation that you would like, but I hope that you won't let that be the only measure of whether your dancing should be, or not. Life is much more than the measure of our bank accounts. You are fortunate that you have found something that gives you so much joy and contentment. Count yourself fortunate and don't put yourself down for this.
