I think ppl charge too much when they sell their own homemade jewlrey so im going to give it a try and make myself understand y. so about 2 weeks ago i bought a little bit of beads and some jewlrey making stuff. it looks hard but im up for any challenge. I also want to make a beaded doorway thingie....like a curtain. ill post a pic of it when im done making it! what do u think about independent jewlrey makers? do u think they are smart in charging $30 for a necklace? i understand they put the time and the money into making them and that time is money but some of them just go overboard. when i went to the shop in downtown Fredericksburg, i noticed that a lot of shop owners sell their goodies for top dollar and they sell! i wunder what their secret is...

verolop yes.if you can push it for that cost then it is nice. in reality establishing a market is a difficult thing. once that is established it may continue until change happens. wish you success in your efforts.

I too stopped buy jewelry and try to make it by myself, if we can make it by ourself then why do we have to buy it. There are many tutorials on internet how to make homemade jewelry and we can browse internet to find new style. I think making homemade jewelry needs a creativity that not everyone might know how to make it, and not everyone have the patience to create the homemade jewelry. When I first tried to make my own craft, so many friends told me it is easier to buy than to make. Well I found a store who sell craft supplies and it is cheaper to make our own handmade jewelry, we can create it as the way we want as much as we want. When you've become an expert in creating homemade jewelry I think you should try to sell it and earn extra income. i think the secret of selling accesories is the display, or probably you can try to sell it online?

$30 is pretty expensive for a necklace. I'm not really into jewelry but I would imagine the people who make them, take a lot of time doing so? And also have to buy the supplies, so that is probably why it's so expensive. *shrugs*

I think that creating jewelry at home is a great way to earn some extra money. At first it will be hard to learn and to create them, but with time you'll get better at this. You can sell them online on auctions sites like eBay and even create your own blog and post pictures and prices for every type of jewelry you create... By the way, the secret of the Fredericksburg shop owners is this: there are a lot of girls in town :) Women will always like jewelry, if you will create some nice jewelry items you will find buyers...

I love to making jewelry following beads books for myself only. I made many earrings, necklaces, ....and i don't need to buy all these things in the shop more. It saves me some money also. You can make it for selling, handmade jewelry is always good and can sell easily...do it and show it in here, i maybe your first customer...

wow... i think it is good idea, you know that buying a jewelery is enough expensive for some people. so we can make a bit save, if we create it alone. beside that if you give the jewelery that you make on your own to your special friend, he or she more respect your giving than you just give it from the seller

i think the secret lies in human laziness. Those jewellery maker know how lazy we are to sit and focus on making accessories. So they make use f it.
