We humans love our possessions. We hang onto our houses, cars, clothes, and all kinds of material things. It goes further than that. We hold onto our relationships as well as if other people are our possessions. The reality of it all is that Nothing belongs to us. Everything is on loan for the lessons God will teach us in our lives. Everything is borrowed. In time, after much learning and many lessons, we will acquire great wisdom. We will discover that it is all ours and there was never a need to hold on so tightly. So how about that? What are you hanging onto for dear life????

I agree with you on this. I don't intend to have a debate on religious matters but I am one of those who believe that everything is just borrowed and the real owner is God.

Yes, and as God's children, we have it all. There was never really a need to hold on so tightly.

What most of us are hanging onto is life itself. We should be like the apostle Paul said that for him, to die was gain but to live was Christ.

One can always be sure of their destination. We all go to God and God's Unconditional Love. God will show us that it has never been about punishment. It's about education.

It is a fact that nothing that we claim to be ours are not really belonging to us. All material comforts are just figments of imagination. It is spiritual strength which us of utmost importance. One is to be evaluated as rich enough when one is wise and learned and not by the huge sum of money which he has amassed.

Yes, we must convert that physical money into something Spiritual that can touch the lives of many. I'm not talking about donating to any church here. If you have acquired huge sums of money, there is a reason. Use your Spiritual view of things to change the world as only you can do for the better. After all, that is why you are here. Do not do this for glory, fame or a title. No one needs to know where it came from only that it is there and that it helps people learn and grow through your example. If you give the world your unconditional love, you won't need the money anyway. You will receive something much more valuable.

Mankind does have the capability to feed the entire world. Why don't we?? Indeed, there are many issues and lessons to learn in the big picture of things. There is so much of the story that we do not always see. Still, it is a good cause to help raise money for those children. I'm all for it. A good Solid government would do wonders for that area. Maybe, in time, their people will see and overcome the idea of every person for themselves.

And that valuable things is our physical and spiritual emancipation that lies in our duties to the have nots, hungers, sicks, illiterates, clothlesses unmedicatedes. I think all users participated in this topic should take initiative to donate or raise donations for Somalian children who die so before they reach to their relief camps. Its a burning question. We have lots of time ahead to discuss about matterial properties and the super logic behind its worthlessness. Thanks

Then, can I borrow my friend's husband for a night or two? Even though they are on a loan to us, at least at the time they are ours... ours to cherish and treasure and keep and protect...

Jennyze Jennyze Jennyze. Would you really be her friend if you were borrowing her husband???? Jennyze. You do have a point about living in the NOW. We can treasure and cherish those in our lives NOW. Indeed, these are the best of times. All to often we do not realize this when we are living it.

Your will belongs to you.And your conscience. For the rest take Dave Mustaine`s advice : “Boy, your soul better belong to Jesus, 'cause your a*s belongs to me”

We are all Spiritual Beings in our true natures. That is who we are. The soul does not exist so how can it belong to anyone?

I believe the most important thing for us to possess is our dignity.

Does it really matter what others think? In the eyes of God and ourselves, we should always feel worthy. We should always have dignity regardless.

Hi bird: It's interesting how people feel so attached to their possessions. Of course, things have a value. Food and elements such as clothes, a car, a house where to sleep and some amount of money to enjoy life are important and could help makes life better and help others. However, the problem is when people start cumulating money and objects just for their sake of it. People sometimes forget that someday we are going to pass away and leave all we have so the most important thing is not having many objects but the way we use them and how we live. ALVARO

You mean I have to give up my lucky worn out shirt??? OK! OK! Just kidding. You are right. We should use our resources and talents to make a difference in this world rather than hording the physical things that really have no importance at all.

Yes, some things are meant to stay with us. They make us who we are. Our knowledge and experience are a very good thing to hold onto.

It is never right to say that we can own someone or person. Even parents must give freedom to their children in building their own future with their guidance. Material things are temporary as we cannot have them forever as no one lasts forever either. I am hanging own with my own life and the things, family, friends in my life since these make my life worthwhile but not to the point of possessing them.

Very good point. Though we know nothing is truly ours, it's hard not to hold onto things that make life grand. We are all guilty of that. Still, when we must let go, we must realize there will always be other things and people to come into our lives to help us learn and grow further. They will, once again, make life better and help us grow. I suppose we will try our best not to let those things go either. We will smile and sometimes hurt when we must free ourselves for the next lesson. Why do we choose to do that to ourselves?? The love and kindness felt from others has always been hard to let go of. It will return in some form given just a little time. It always does.

It is true, nothing belongs to us in this life. everything is in the possession of God since no humain can stay alive on this earth for an eternity. Let's focus on rich people and people with power, do they take any of their money or their power with them to their tombs ? The answer is abvious: no. From this point, we can say that all what is on earth is just for a temporary use, and each one of us has his own period and his own share, since it was always the case during history.

Yes. We all have the power to Choose what we deem important to us. When we realize that the Spiritual things are the important things, we will convert all that cash to something that will touch the lives of others. What else is money really good for??
