Denmark did a daylight robbery beating Netherlands 1-0 to cause the first major upset of the tournament. Netherlands laid a siege of the Dutch goal and did everything but score throughout the match. Against the run of play, the Danes scored of the first real chance they created as Michael Krohn-Dehli scored the winner in the 24th minute. With this result, the Group of Death just became more deadlier!! What are your views on this match? Cheers! Ram

I am a novice . I don't have a view I just wanted to thank you for all these posts. I am learning a great deal. So do you think the Danes are That good or was it that the Dutch took denmark too lightly? Can The Dutch recover?

So it was the defense of Denmark that helped with this win? That's scary. All you need to to hold a good scoring team at bay And score yourself and you will win.

Actually no. It was more the wastefulness of the Dutch players and their inability to finish the moves rather than great defending by the Danes. So though they put a manful effort, it was not anything that could not be breached. Just that the Dutch had a bad shooting day. Cheers! Ram

I think it was daylight robbery by the Danes. They were playing most of the game in their own half defending against the chances that the Dutch created. But the Dutch had sadly left their finishing boots at home and could not finish even one of the bucketful of chances they created. On the other hand, the Danes managed to score of their first real attempt at the Dutch goal and held on to it till the end. Cheers! Ram

Surely the upset of the tournament so far. The Dutch deserved a goal since they created many chances but since they had Van Persie in bad night, who couldn't convert 3-4 good chances into goals, they lost fair. I wouldn't be surprised if the Group goes in match 3 with all four teams having 3 points. That would be really nice :)

Van Persie did have a bad match. But even when Huntelaar came in, he also did not have a great few minutes on the pitch. Cheers! Ram

Yes, I would have thought that Robin Van Persie would have scored an hat trick if he was close to his standards. Cheers! Ram

Yeap Huntelaar also missed a great chance in the end of the match, I think if one of those two was close to his standards they would have been able for a comeback.

I think I have become the boogey man for this tournament. None of my predictions have so far come true. Whichever team I pick to win is losing. :) Cheers! Ram

How come you call that a daylight roberry? They deserved the win. Holland attack looked bleak. They didn't have the usual killer instincts when they played Denmark. Robben played well linking with van Persie but he is was not playing at his best. They were too selfish and could have passed and played instead of going for those long range shots. Robben should have seen more ball as he was playing well. I was disappointed to see Huntelaar in the bench after a wonderful season at Schalke. The coach had his tactics wrong and should have subbed van bommel instead of de jong. As i see, Germany looks favorates to top the group and i can see good chance for denmark to be runners up.

I agree with you that the Dutch were guilty of being selfish and going for their shots rather than picking better placed team mates. But, I still call this a daylight robbery because Dutch did everything other than scoring. On the other hand, Denmark scored of their one real potent attack. Cheers! Ram

I still dont support that day light robbery part :). I you remember dutch and the danes had almost same number of chances in the box. Van persie had one or two. Other than that almost none others had any good chance inside the box. Danes were really good at counter and got themselves a lot of good chances inside the penalty box.

A complete and utter upset. The Dutchmen were just playing around with the Danish for the first 20 minutes. The Denmark goal just put a stop to their runs and they found it hard to get back on track after that!

Actually they kept attacking, but simply failed to put on their shooting shoes. Cheers! Ram

I love the result as I never support the Oranje in this match. Kudos to Denmark who stand a chance of qualifying to the next round. Yeah the group lives the chance that who will come out stronger. I do not see Netherland progressing from this group. they are eliminated to me. Portugal has a more likely chance to progress should they take the victory over Denmark. But mind you, Denmark are no longer under-dog in the group by the stand of their first match. They might have more ball possession but I think they will employ the strategy they use against Netherland to convert any chance they get. Germany is a sure candidate for next round but they are not guaranteed as Netherland will or shock them should they become complacent.

I think the result throws this group into further turmoil. But I do not think the Dutch are out of it just yet. I think 4 points and a better goal difference could be good enough to qualify in this group. So there is still a lot left in this group just yet. Cheers! Ram
