Schizophrenia is hard to cope

I have depression which has psychotic symptoms such as believing someone is going to get me and I wonder schizophrenia is also the same but a lot worse, I am thinking only the strongest people can stand this illness, my friend died because she has bipolar, is bipolar same as depression, I heard bipolar disorder has many episodes and one episode last for a week then the next week they get mania, hyper happy. What kind of God is this giving the people this type of mental illness? I think God is harsh anyway.

To know that you have such a condition is already half the battle won. If you don't know what causes it then you'll only end up more confused and depressed. When you know what's ailing you, you can consult a professional who can help you with medications and most importantly is to have loving family who supports and understands you. Just remember that god won't be giving you something you can't carry, if you think it's hard, just look forward for the reward.

Everything happens for a reason... There are many people out there that have all kinds of different diseases or disorders. Other people lose children at a young age to car accidents, cancer, murder, etc... We can't say god is harsh. Our lives are like a book and what is meant to happen in it will and there is nothing we can do to change it. I am sorry you are dealing with the symptoms but there has to be something someone can do to help you cope with it, a doctor puting you on medication or a pyschologist that can help you deal with it.

I think, what you need to do is, take it lightly. Try to relax. Try to unwind. Go to a place where you will be treated nicely, a place where the environment is so good, soo relaxing, and have some relaxation. It will help you ease up things.

I'm sorry you've got so much rough stuff going on. I have friends who have to deal with delusions and paranoia daily, so I have some idea what you're going through. I know one of the hardest things to deal with in depression or mania is the fear that the distress is for life. Try to keep in mind that any given phase is not permanent -- the mindset will eventually shift. Also, if you are not currently taking medication to reduce the effects, I urge you to consider doing so. Antidepressants can be difficult to take for up to the first month as your brain chemistry readjusts to a more functional state, but the long-term results can be a happier, less 'spiky' experience as you live your life. As for God, I came to the conclusion a long time ago that the God most people imagine does not exist. That's not to say that there is no God, but I don't believe He/She/It takes a hand in human affairs. Humans are amazing beings, and we've made some amazing things, both good and ill, but I don't think there is any God pulling our strings in the background. We, individually and in groups, make the best of things as well as we can at the time, and hopefully we get the chance to learn from our acts and those of others.

I have bi-polar disorder and I don't believe it can be catagorized as easily as you just have said it. You should read about these mental illnesses before you just put random facts into a discussion though.

The facts on the internet are quite confusing, if you don't mind, can you pm me about the exact feeling that you are having when you are not on medication? I hope I can sort out something in my mind soon.

Schizophrenia is very bad mental disease cause you will not be able to sleep. So your brain do not get any rest and you cannot do work your normally. My mother was having this type of disease. So i had seen her very closely. You need to take it seriously. You need to do a lot of work out of exercise which will make you sleep.A lot of physical work can make you go to sleep. Also you can consult with some psychiatric who can help you in this regard. There is some strong cause for which you are felling schizophrenia. But if you will consult with doctor your will get the solution and you will be very happy to find the solution. Do not waste your time by thinking some rubbish.Rater do something creative then you will get mental satisfaction.I do not know whether you are having any family problem or not but you should not take it lightly. Cause you will loose all your attention to your work and towards good thing if it is serious. Best of luck.

Thanks for asking about my mother.Yes,she is ok now.She also took this kind of medicine like Lorazepam and Zoloft.Cause this medication can provide you a sound sleep. When you are suffering from Schizophrenia then you need the sound sleep and a cheerful mind most.We ensured our mother that she is having proper sleep and we traveled a lot at that time to make her comfortable and just for change we also changed our old house and went to a new house. Engage yourself in some good activities like join Gym or try some sports. This will make you tired and you will fall asleep. This is the natural way. Try to do some mathematics cause this is a good mental exercise of brain.I forgot to mention another thing in my previous answer. You can try YOGA.This is an Indian form of exercise and this gives you mental satisfaction and you will get the full concentration in your work. Try all this and maintain a routinized life and you will be totally ok.Best of luck friend!

If you want to blame God, go ahead, but I think what humans are doing to the earth and each other is much more likely to have caused these and other problems.

hi wongchoiyee! indeed, schizophrenia and/or any kind of mental or emotional illness is difficult to cope with, but a person does not have to die from it! i am so sorry to hear about your friend and i know you are hurting from that...i studied psychology in college and have worked in the mental health counseling field: i also suffer from major depressive disorder and my mother has bi-polar disorder and panic anxiety disorder...so i know a bit about this subject! depression is characterized by feeling sad and not being able to get over it for over two weeks or so...you can also have problems sleeping or sleep too much, lose appetite or eat too much, have a loss of energy, avoid seeing people and have difficulty thinking clearly...all these that you have mentioned are the result of an imbalance of brain chemicals and are truly health issues like diabetes or heart problems...as such, there is medication to help a person live a better life...i have to take my medication or i cannot sleep or think clearly and am so sad i cannot stop crying...but with my medication it makes such a difference..i can function and have a better quality of life...i have learned though that i have to take care of myself and eat nutritionally, get exercise and sunlight and get enough sleep as well as take the meds...there is a big connection between the mind and the body and if you don't keep the balance one of them will get sick...i notice if i am physically sick i will become more depressed and vice-versa....you are right about bipolar disorder in that there is a manic period...my mother has that but i have never had a manic time...sometimes i had wished i did! when a person is manic they have too much energy, do everything too fast, make poor decisions like spending a lot of money frivolously or engaging in dangerous behaviors...my brother is bipolar and he had a manic episode a few years ago that was bad, but he came through it and now he cannot remember a lot of what he did and said during that time...if a person is bipolar, they take different meds than the depressive, they need an anti-depressant like the depressive, but also a mood stabilizer but also need to take care of their sleep, food and exercise and sunlight needs...it is also good to find a recreational outlet that makes you happy..my mom and i are both artists, and that can help your mind to relax as well...schizophrenia is a lot different from depression/bipolar...there is a paranoid factor, as you mentioned, but brain scans show that schizophrenia looks different in the brain and influences a different part of the brain...there is medication and hope for schizophrenia but the medications are different and more intense ...as a student and clinical practitioner i am very excited about brain scans because if a person's brain can indicate what area is sick, there can be a medication to match it and make the person be able to function better...i understand your feeling about God, but i don't really think this has anything to do with him although part of being depressed can certainly include questioning God and doubting God's care...there are many bad diseases in addition to these, and personally i am thankful that we live in a time that there has been so many medical advances that there is help for these bad maladies...in decades and centuries past people did not care about mentally ill people and locked them up or burned them as witches, or avoided them altogether...please, if you need medical treatment and/or talk therapy seek them out...there are people who care about you and want to help you...please take care of yourself, you are worth it and you can make a difference in the lives of others...peace and blessings to you wongchoiyee!
