lynboobsy get to your doctor as this allergy may need more than just benadryl or a larger dose and in IV form. if nothing else get to an e r and let them help yo u instead of self doctoring. the symptoms you describe tookl me to the ER where I discovered myswelled up arms with all the scratches were Cat scratch fever so had antihistamine with antibiotic IV and was to stay til all the fluid went in., small ants can bite and cause a terrific allergic reaction needing a stronger antihistamine then we have in our med shelves at home.the swelling had to have medical attention and at once too. go to the ER or your doctor ER is faster please so not self doctor.let us know how you come out take care please.

hey, guys, Hatley is back. . . yay!!! I just got online. Tooo much work this week. I am glad, lynboobsy that you went to get medical treatment. Sometimes those kinds of problems can lead to anaphylactic shock where your airway actually swells shut. What was it that bit you, do you know?

If you have any kind of swelling, the rash goes over your whole body, etc. you need to seek immediate medical attention. I would look inside your slippers for some kind of insect or bug that could have stung you or any local biting creature. The antihistamine is a good first step, and a second step is to maybe drink something high in caffeine to open your airway up but if you were here near me, I would take you to the emergency room.

go to the ER please, this is not something you should self medicate I know from experience and the fact that they can push antihistamimes into your system via IV much faster and better for you than self doctoring.

I normally take Avil 25 which takes care of any allergies that result in itching. I have not had it in years though.

I mostly use of medicinal plants like tulasi to get rid from them. I think you can use the same. This will help you to cure all your problems when some insects bite you. Grid thulasi leaves well and just put them on the place where the insect bites you. This will cure you.

Perhaps you should check on a dermatologist or a doctor immediately specially if this is your first time.

I also experienced this intense itching. It might be a type of mite called itch mite. Upon biting, you get very itchy. If not, then I don't know..You can try applying lotion. It helps reduce itching (:

Maybe it is a feather or something like a hairy caterpillar that landed on my slipper and left some hair that irritate my skin.

Equate Brand of Chlor Trimeton (Chlor Tabs) - The best anti-itch medicine around! Non drowsy!
When I get to itching like that and it won't stop, I'll take the generic brand of Chlor Trimeton (Chlor Tabs) and I get it at Walmart so it's brand name is Equate which is a whole lot cheaper than the name brand. If the itching is really bad then I'll take two tablets and it works like a charm without making me drowsy like Benadryl does.

Others have said emergency room and I would say the same. I know it's been hours since the itch but the fact you swelled up is not good. I'd have called and asked someone in the medical profession about it. We have hotlines over here like the poison control center to help, but yours isn't a posion thing.

Can you find what you are allergic to? If so can you avoid it? This sounds like it may be growing into a very dangerous situation that may even threaten your life. You may need to carry an eppie pen in case of shock.

All I can suggest is drinking plenty of water, have you any calamine lotion that will take the itch out of it.you should really see a doctor, have you changed your washing powder or eating something different.See a doctor because this is not right, take care.

I got same problems 20 years ago, at that time, I was a student of middle school. I felt itchy every where on my body, It was like mosquito bite all over my body. I can not sleep, I scratched all the time, My mother find a branch of camphor tree, and cooked it in the water. With the hot water of camphor wood, she washed me. It was a magic, after I was washed, I did not feel itchy any more.
