The issue or question is quite pertinent ...Are we in fact happier than our forefathers? The sudden answer would be a big NO. The modern world is much more developed than the years gone by. Though great achievements have been gained in most fields of agriculture, technology and entertainment the decline in moral values has to be viewed seriously. The kindheartedness and benevolent attitudes of the past have paved the way for greed for money and cruelty to the core. Nobody is bothered about the other one. Self centered nature of the younger generation is carried forward to greater heights. Besides the threat to internal as well as external security is much rampant in most universal societies. The modern generation is much more healthy, intelligent and bright. However human values are fast losing ground on account of the material advancement through scientific intervention.

Hiya sukumar, Also I think the problem is too that everythings has gone too fast for them and also for us but me for example does not see life the way a 20 year old does. They need a chance to be shown that there are other things besides Gadgets and all the latest Video Games and such. My Son´s Friends have had everything they have ever wanted given to them by their Parents. I have not been able to give them all of those things and therefore their Friends see us in a different light so to speak. Not only that also their Mothers. I have never felt the urge to give them everything. Even if I had had the money they would not have got everything because I felt that their values were way to materialistic and they still are in spite of them not having had everything given to them on a plate. They are much like their Friends in the sense that the only things that exist mainly for them is going out of a Weekend and nights during the Week. Even though I have tried to teach them that it seems not to have worked. Or maybe one Day they will change but at the moment I can see that being pretty difficult. They are they way they are. xxx

Hi sukumar,I think that there is far too much negativity in today's world, especially when it comes to young people. The media thrives on bad news and therefore we hear of every bad thing that happens. Good news, if published at all, is relegated to a corner of the third or fourth page of every newspaper - and is almost never mentioned in TV coverage. Young people are not all self centered and our forefathers were not all perfect. Every generation in history have deplored the young people growing up after them, let's start to change that by acknowledging that things aren't as bad as they seem and the world is not going to hell in a hand basket. Blessings.

I actually think that the current generation has the potential to be happier, but on the whole they are unhappy in general because of the fact that things are a lot more stressful. I think one of the things that has caused this is the fact that there are too many choices that children have, and this means that they are more confused than ever about their future. In the past, they would have gone into the same profession as one of their parents, but now education is open to most people and this means that there are lots of things that people can choose to do.

In this modern days we have lot of technology items and do our work properly and perfectly within short period. We have the ability to do lot of things without more strain using the modern equipment. In the ancient days, our ancestors don't have this kind of modern equipment and do all the works by their own without the help of machines and live a natural life. With the existence of this modern artificial things, we forget about the natural items and depends upon the artificial things. Really this kind of artificial equipment help us to finish our work in a short time, but still the result is different from the natural work. In this modern days most of the youngsters are earning a huge income compared with their fathers and fore fathers and enjoying their life a lot. But most of them are money minded and don't give more importance to the relationship and family values. Due to the modern trend most of the youngsters are running behind the money and forget about other things. Money can give a luxury life to us, but we are losing real love, care and affection due to running behind the money. Most of the youngsters in this days are working in abroad and earning a lot, but they are missing their family members and don't have the ability to see their family persons directly while they wish to do. They can keep in touch with them using the modern equipment, but this kind of equipment don't give the satisfaction of direct visit. All are virtual, in this modern days the world turned as a virtual media and losing the value of human. Machines are dominating the human beings a lot in this modern trend.

Human values are really decreasing. However, we cannot just blame it to the advancement in science and technology because HAPPINESS for a fact is a choice of each individual. And I think even if there will be no technical improvement, people will still thrive for greed. That's nature of life and a part of each person's weakness. Most people are never contented and satisfied with their lives. ~~

Our for fathers have lived a life based on humanity, love and relations and we are living a materialistic life. So in reward we have so much materials and machines are available in our life but we have lost the humanity love and trust.

The happiness of the new generation is getting down because they are missing a lot of relations. The young people belonging to the new generation have turned like a people who don’t have a simple loving heart. They don’t care much about the family values or the family values. They just break the chains of all the relations for making money. So the people belonging to the new generation do not have the opportunity to feel the value of each of the relationship.
