I feel very ugly after my hair cut

India
June 22, 2012 7:00am CST
Today I went to beauty parlor to cut my hair, as i feel my hairs are very long and i feel little uncomfortable with it. After my hair cut my beauty is all gone. The barber had made my hair too short and it seems that i am a person with less hairs. I asked him to cut my hairs with military cut design but the barber had some thing else along with it he had made some scratches as well as small hurts on my head with the scissors and his blade. Did you ever feel, you looks ugly after your hair cut ? Did you ever had any scratches or wounds during your hair cut? Share you experience and pain!

The only thing that's going to make the barber work, a lot more worse is how you're going to feel about yourself after this. The only cure for this kind of problem is to accept that it is a bad haircut. I wonder, if your hair is repairable, probably some kind of trimming or colouring to make it looks better.

Colouring the hairs may helps of to look better but the problem is, i an much worried about my hairs. I worry that my hairs will down. More over my mother will not allow me to do colouring.

I actually think it looks weird when men color their hair for some reason. Unless they spend a lot of money and have it done professionally, it just never seems to come out right. Your mother won't allow you?? Your profile says that you are 21. You should be able to do whatever you want at that age. Gosh, I let my girls choose how they wanted to wear their hair when they were old enough to care for it on their own. My youngest who is the only one of us with dark hair, had blonde highlights put in when she was 16. I would have preferred her to stick with her natural color but it's her hair...her choice plus she was earning her own money.

Hair is really an important part of our total personality. The problem with the hair cutting is just like shooting an arrow. once its cut you cannot request barber to fix it. the only thing you can do is to compromise with the situation with different outlook of yours. I was never being so much bothered about hair cuts. I usually use to have a short hair cut and hardly gave any importance to style. Usually i love short hair, short of army cutting.

Now I have every short hair with some other design on my hairs. I don't know what is the design he has made on my hairs. I had asked him to put military cut an he had done some other design. He is very rude at and I hate him. He is the man with no manners. Did you ever had such an bad manners hair cut in your life ? Please share

Wear a cap that will help you to hide what you want to hide. At least you will feel comfortable going out with your hairs covered. I am sure it will only take a week for your hair to grow a little longer :)

Yes the cap is a great idea but like Hatley mentioned above, do let some air get to it when you aren't in public.

wonderboy get your favorite baseball teams cap and have fun while your hair grows out,. like jaiho said it should not take too long to gro out

Cap Is a good and a better idea . When I usually cut my hairs it takes many weeks to grow my hair little bit. So I think it will take a long time to get back with my normal long hairs. I am really sad and I now I don't love to get in front of public. Did you ever feel the same jai ? Share your thoughts and experiences

from my childhood Until I was 14 I have no freedom to choose my haircut and yes I hated it. But by the time I am 15 I had the freedom to have the hair I wanted. I refused to have a hair cut, so yeah I sported the fluffy emo/anime hair for a long time until that *^%$%*&* becomes popular and I dont want to be associated to him so I have a haircut and goes for a spiky hair.

My mom was a hairdresser so I can so relate to you CaptAlbert! She used to either cut my hair off real short or give me these stupid perms that just looked crazy horrendous! When I was finally able to get out of her reign, I just grew and grew my hair and I very very rarely will enter a salon. I just don't trust those sissor people at all. I'm 56 and I have a friend who cuts hair. My hair was to my waist. I figured it was about time to take the plunge and go at least a bit shorter. I watched her cut a lot of hair before I finally agreed to let her cut mine. At that point, she was as nervous as I was! It was rough and I did kind of freak a bit when she was done but honestly, it just took a little getting used to. She really did a good job.

Don't you have a blood stain experience during the hair cuts ? Now my hairs seems like spiky. All my hairs are too short and they are standing erect. Seems like it is a new style but yet it looks ugly. So if you need spiky hairs come I will send the barber to your house

Hello thewonderboy I am so sad to hear the rough treatment the barber gave to your head and to your hairs. I hope that you never go to this barber again. Your head shouldn't be wounded after the haircut. I know you feel sad now, but your hair will grow back, and quicker than you realize!! It will look better in just a few days, before you return to college. Have you considered wearing a cap if you are uncomfortable with the look of the hairs? I have had some bad haircutting experiences. The worse was when I was about your age, and an older man in a town I had just moved to recommended a barber. As soon as I walked in this barber's shop I knew I had made a mistake, but my stubbornness would not allow me to leave. Then, to my horror, the barber cut my hairs with the Flowbee (a vacuum cleaner hooked up to the clippers.) The worse of all was that even though I was only 23 years the old my hair looked like all the old men in the town! It just so happens that I got a haircut today. The sad part about it is that now that I am older, not much will grow back. You are young and your lovely hairs will be back soon!!

Wearing a cap that is a great idea But I don't know that wearing them in class hours is allowed or not but still I will buy them because I can put them when I go out. So that I don't feel ugly during my outing but I don't know what to do from my collage.

I wonder a boy can wear a bandage on his head. It is a great idea but how can a boy wear it. I hope everything will be OK before my collage starts.

Perhaps you could ask your professor if it is okay -- explain to the professor why. Another idea is to bandage your head to hide the haircut. Of course, you may not like how this looks and also people may ask you a lot of questions about the bandage. But it is an idea. I bet you don't look as bad as you feel!! The hairs will grow out quickly -- they always do when they are shorn so low. They grow quickly in the first week. You will see. All will be well when you go to college.

Yes, this has happened to me many times. I would tell the barber to cut just a little off, but he would end up taking far more off. They wet the hair and that is the problem I think, because it looks longer when it's wet so there's a tendency to cut more off and when dry it springs back shorter.. Anyway, I would console myself with the fact that it would grow back eventually, but now I don't use barbers any more. I bought myself and hair clippers and can cut off as little or as much as I want. My hair tends to be thick and won't stay in any particular style, so it is easy for me to cut it myself using two mirrors to be able to see what I am cutting off the back. I good investment, as I have saved some money in not having to go to the barber shop for the last 4 years or so... _Derek

For the nest time I will cut my hair with the help of my mother. She usually used to cut my sisters hair well and I hope she will do my too well. Once I tried myself to cut my hairs with the sue of hairs but I cannot do that properly because I need a a comb and a scissor on both of my hands and I cannot get my hands where I need to cut my hairs. This is my problem. How do you get your hands while you cut your hair ?

I'm sure you look fine! Most of us don't like our hair right after it's cut but in about a week it'll be better. And hair always grows back so nothing is permanent! When I was about 7 (51 years ago!) I got my hair cut very short. As the lady trimmed the hair around my ears her scissors snipped my ear and it bled like crazy as well as hurting. I was too proud to cry but I was scared with all the blood. Ever since then I hate having my hair cut and when scissors get near that ear my spine tingles almost unbearably and I get the shivers.

I am really sad that you have similar wounds by the barber. As i am well natured i did not cry at it. I was at the near of crying i controlled it myself. After my haircut the barber just do not tell any sorry or if did not give any medicines for me and i will never go there for cutting my lovely hair.

Find someone new to go to. The matter of your hair being to short will be soon gone, but no one who causes scratches or cut of your skin should be allowed to cut your hair again. Everyone gets a bad hair cut once in a while but they all grow out.

I am much worried about my wounds and the scratches which has happened during my hair cut. I could find some blood drizzled from the scratches. I had put them medicines over them. I hope it will get all right. Is it OK ? Should I do anything else for that wound ?

hi wonderboy since I am old enough to be your grandmom let me say that your wounds since you put medicine on them should be left open to the air.if it looks a bit infected daub some hydrogen peroxideon it and that will kill any germs. It should heal fast but if it does fester or hurt you might need to see your doctor but I think you are young and healthy so it should heal fast. You will be okay.

I am planning to have my hair cut in about thirty minutes when it is my time to deal with my own stuff. Now my hair is long and I don't feel comfortable with it. Usually I feel good after my hair gets cut because my barber knows how I want my hair to be cut. He always does a good job to my hair. Have a good time, thewonderboy.

I feel like this happens a lot. Change is always hard to deal with! When I get hair cuts I feel the same way. Maybe not UGLY but different and weird. Just because we have gotten so used to the old 'do. Unless they really screwed it up. In which case maybe you could go back and get it fixed for free. That sounds painful.... getting cut by the barber.

Well, now I do not need me to go to the hairdresser to cut my hair, because I know well enough to use a power tool to sprout hair. I must say however that in the past I used to go at least once every two months, and especially when I was a teenager, I was often not happy with the work done by the barber. Basically, I preferred to have my hair a little longer!

After my hair cut i did not make much attempts to comb my hair because they are too small and combing my hairs is just mearly a waste of time but now i find my combs as little useful. This signifies or symbolise the growth of my hair. I hope my hair gets grow more faster. Did you ever had an such ugly experience?

During my service for army, I always had the crew-cut, That looks very decent but yes some time barbers while in hurry -they make some mistakes, not always but rarely.
