I badly needed groceries, I was down to a can of corn, and 3 sausages. I did spend about $140 total today. I went to a new grocery store called FreshCo. It had good deals on some things more meat. I got ribs for $7 (normally $25), chicken $3.80 (normally $20), pemale $3 (normally $10), bacon 2.50 ea (got 2 normally $7 ea). I got 2 heads of lettuce, a head of dandelion leaves, bananas, and red onions. I grabbed a few bags of chips for when we go camping, and cookies. I got 2 big bags of pasta tortelli for $5 each. I grabbed a lettuce basket plant (50% off), and 2 catnip plants (that were on sale). I went to Walmart grabbed some treats such as candy and chocolate for when we go camping, and toys for all the brats.

because it is so cheap it may not be grade A meant but if you are okay with grade b or whatever, that is fine.

Ally can't tell the difference. Its the usual meat I buy so I'm guessing ill like it. I'm not one to buy $50 steaks I like the cheap pound steaks.

ordinary people don't usually tell the difference but government inspectors know the different. Sometimes there is more fat in the meat, and I don;'t know what the other criteria is for the grades.

I love going to the store and finding that some of the things that I like are on offer. This means that I have more money left at the end to be able to treat myself to things that I haven't had for a long time, and this is something that I really wish that I was able to do more often. Supermarkets are very clever though, because they put things on offer that they know people will want but won't have put on their shopping list, so that they are able to sell things that people didn't even know that they wanted before they got to the store.

Sounds like you saved a bunch of money We spend $200-$300/month on groceries. Really depends on who is home and what we are eating. 90% of our weekly groceries is produce, which makes it super hard to keep costs down.

Sounds like you got some good deals today! We don't have a FreshCo. in our area - oh but I know the excitement of a new grocery store opening up (they usually have awesome deals for during their grand opening time!). And Walmart always has good stuff . . . looks like some of the summer stuff is already going on sale (does yours have an aisle for clearance stuff?) - grab 'em while you can!! I just bought a bunch of Smarties (candy) there to put in my daughter's goodie bags for her class as she finished up school last week . . . Smarties so they stay smart during summer - ha ha!! Glad you stretched that $140 well today . . . enjoy your camping trip when you go!

It sounds like you got some great deals. I am going grocery shopping later on today and hope I can get some great deals as well. I will be going to WinCo and possibly Walmart. It is a pain going to two different stores, but I need to save as much as I can. It is hard feeding a family of five on 70.00. The store FreshCo sounds like a great place to shop. I wish we had one here in Nevada.

Wow you got some really great deals, but I could never spend that much in one trip. I spent a good portion of my adult life living paycheck to paycheck, so I spend about 45.00 a week after sales and coupons. Even spending that much is large for me. I have gotten good at getting items when they are on sale and stocking up on the items that have expiration dates that go out by a year. I have 2 kids and a husband to feed so I try to stock up on snacks, the one thing that seems to be gone as soon as I buy them. I wish I could find bacon for that cheap, I only buy bacon once in a while since it is about 5.00 each for the cheap stuff. I have never seen dandelion leaves for sale at my store. I don't even know what I would use them in. What do you use them in?

I usually go about twice a week to walmart and spend around $50.00 each time on groceries. I tend to get the same things that I always do. Amish Macaroni Salad, Broccoli pasta salad, some ragu sauce, chicken, sausage, or ground beef. My milk alone costs about $4.30, but it's the healthiest out there. I also get organic eggs, and any veggies I get I try to get organic. This is just to feed me and it tends to last since I've been buying tea. That FreshCo. sounds like it has a lot of things in it, almost like a whole foods. The grocer I work at is like a step down from Whole Foods.
