I don't think you should try anything other than go to a qualified doctor to see if you had caught some infections which needs proper medications. I am saying this because you had your condition for almost 2 weeks already and if your body is unable to fight it then I am sure it could be something more serious that your body defense cannot handle. While you are making your way to the doctors, please ensure you look into your diet to alleviate your "sufferings". You should avoid ice cold drinks, citric juices and liquor. As for food, you should avoid taking too much garlic and spicy food. Cold salads is also to be avoided, if you can help it. If you are breathless, try inhaling steam from a basin of hot water under a towel. If you are asthmatic, please ensure that you have your inhaler with you at all times. Again, please consult a doctor before your condition gets complicated.

The best cough remedy is pure raw honey with garlic juice. Take a spoonful of this mixture in full stomach. Don't ever take this if your stomach is not full or else you will suffer stomach ache But this is very effective. Do this 4 times a day or as often as necessary. It is all natural so no danger of overdose. And also one thing more. Don't drink cold water, but rather lukewarm water only till you get well. Okay!

If you are talking about a natural or herbal medicine, why don't you try ginger juice, it will refresh your throat. I also suggest oregano juice. I used to drink this when I was young whenever I have a serious cough. Get well soon.

I think all of the above answers are good, plus if you didn't know this one secret. Put some Vick's vapor rub on your feet at night and wear socks over them. It should help the cough considerably as well.

Take half spoon of pepper powder. Mix it with a spoon full of honey. Take this once in the morning and then before going to sleep in the night. Also if you have throat irritation gargle with warm salt water.

Hello lizzyt, You haven't mentioned if its dry cough or you are getting phlegm, so I am assuming it is dry cough. The best recipes for dry cough that I have experienced is to make a mixture of pure honey with half its amount of fresh ginger juice, and have it a spoonful at a time. If possible, follow it with drinking some hot water. Is it easy for you to obtain turmeric powder and jaggery in Alaska?? If yes, then a mixture of these combined into a smooth dough-like mixture and formed into small pills, sucking on one pill at a time is very effective for persistent coughs like you have got. All the best and let me know if this is possible or will post you some other handy recipes for it. Hope you feel better soon!

Yes, if it's a dry cough it's not as dangerous as one with mucus. If you have mucus it could be allergies to pollen or pollution. Or it could be pollution induced asthma or humidity induced asthma. You really should get checked. It may also be bronchitis or even pneumonia, in which case this is an infection and you need antibiotics. A cough could be a ton of different things.
