with all this crap I have to go through with the moving, I have not had time to go for my blood tests. I need to do that before I can make an appointment with my nurse. The thing is I am totally exhausted and I have to fast for 14 hours then walk to the hospital. I am not supposed to go without eating as I am diabetic and so this is a very hard situation to be in. I will be weak and have to walk in the heat and that is an overwhelming thought for me. I am going to have to try and make it next week for sure I can't continue putting it off. It has to be done.

I have to get blood work done as well. Since I have to go to the next town over (20 minute drive) I have to petsit this week so I will do it then, possible Friday morning or afternoon. I could never imagine fasting again I did it once and I'm not a diabetic. My friend is a diabetic and has so many issues especially when she gets tests done.

I have to get some blood tests done tomorrow. I'm not supposed to eat after midnight, so I want to do it first thing in the morning. They don't open until 9am I believe. As soon as I'm through I'm sure I'll be ready to eat! As will you!

midnight is doable but my test requires 14 hours.

You don't have to fast for more than 6 houra, I don't care what they tell you. Fourteen hours is ridiculous. Do you not have access to a handicap van? All I had to do was have my doctor's permission and I was good to go. I'm using them tomorrow to go for a doctor visit.

sorry but they refuse to test the blood if you don't fast for as long as they say. It happened to me once. This is the test for diabetics, each blood test is different

I know it can be done Winter. It does sound hard but you will surely be able to work things out.

I don't understand why you have to be NPO (fast) so long. Here, docs have you to have nothing to eat or drink after midnight, and then they schedule your tests in the morning. I've only once ever had to wait until 3 PM and I was told to fast from 7 AM.. in other words I could eat an early breakfast and then fast the rest of the day and go to my appointment. Only had to be fasting for 8 hours. Fasting blood sugars and other labs can be done in the morning after fasting all night. Can you not ask for an early appointment for your blood testing?
