When me and my friends reminisce our younger days we often talk about our toys, what kind of toys we have and the street game we often play. As i remember i prefer playing with the boys. When my parents bought toys for girls i frown cause i enjoy playing toys for the boys. I have bicycle, robots, matchbox collection, basketball, except toy gun. When my parents are not around i secretly play my toy gun(the one i bought from a playmate). How about you what are your toys? Any street games to share?

mine were actually mostly paper dolls and those little plates and spoons and forks..little stove and oven that i get to cook some fake food as well.. it was fun thinking of those days as things were just so easy and that simple.. but then i switched to reading books.

You're just like my elder sister who loves to play dolls. She even sacrifice her recess and save money for her to buy paper dolls. So you play your fake kitchen with your playmates? Did you also act being a nurse or a doctor? Yeah! simple things but full of fun. I never appreciate books when i was little.

Hello simonelee I also had a bicycle and I rode all over the town. Mostly I had books and my imagination coupled with these books made for a lot of fun days. I had the stick that I often played with in a variety of ways. And I would also dig the hole in the ground and draw the airplane wings and body around the hole and sit in the hole with the stick and act like I was flying. Sometimes I had a half rubber ball and I would use a broom stick and play a game called, 'half rubber' which was much like baseball, only we used a half rubber ball and a broom stick. This provided hours of entertainment. Sometimes we would throw dirt clogs at each other. That was another fun toy, the dirt clogs. If we were fortunate, we would find a can and kick it around the neighborhood. One time I couldn't believe my fortune as I found a big wire loop and I rolled this around the neighborhood for weeks. It was so much the fun!! Peace

I forgot to mention the Gumby and the doll head. I wasn't at all hyper when I was a child. In fact, I was quite subdued.

Gumby? A green clay humanoid character? Really, you weren't that hyper? I picture out you as a boy who wonder around. But, you often play with a group? Me, i play alone or with boys since i don't like to play with barbie dolls.

My favorite toy was a sock-o paddle. Otherwise I was into books. I think I had one doll. Still have it. It's over 50 years old. Perhaps it would bring something on the antique market. It's still in it's original dress.

How do you play sock-o paddle? I haven't heard of it and can't find it online. Is it traditional children's game in your country? Wow! must be a treasure. Better keep it and preserve that doll. What's the name of your doll? do you have photo to share? I hate dolls but i do have one favorite doll that still with me and share it with my niece though it looks like a rag now, still she likes it.

When I was young I had a broomstick I pretended was my horse. I love horse! Then when I got alittle older I was given one of the original Barbie dolls. I also had paperdolls. My grandson has a a plastic bin of Lego parts and he puts together all kinds of cool things. He is quite the builder.

Hahaha i did that also, riding in a broomstick.Toys from the past and now are very much different. Most the kids are now playing computer games, often in one place for hours. I love lego, it develops kids creativity and imagination.

I don't have many toys when I am a kid. But I love to play outdoor the most. I like playing hide and seek and ball games. I like riding bicycle and going to parks with friends, swimming and chasing butterflies.

You're an outdoor person who loves to wonder. Playing outside with friends are better than isolating your self. To some it can be boring. Me, i love going out, run as fast as i can and imagining riding a motorcycle. You swim in beach or in a swimming pool?

hi simonelee! when the psychoartist was young, i liked to climb trees a lot! i was in the trees all the time, reading my nancy drew detective books and spying on the neighbors..i was also bad to eavesdrop on my parents and grandparents...i was a very sneaky child...i liked to ride my bike in the neighborhood to the park and to the library and always rode my bike through all the sprinklers in the neighborhood singing at the top of my voice...we also had a fun playhouse in our hall made out of big cardboard boxes and i had a small play organ that i liked to play loudly...i had a brother, but i did not play with his toys, i made him play barbie dolls with me! ...he got to talk for the ken doll and the g.i.joe doll...he had lots of plastic army men that he pretended to kill and then buried all over our back yard...i did not think this was a fun game...

I have very fond memories of paper dolls. They were cheap, and I had an entire box of them. All my paper dolls had names, and they had lots of clothes. I liked them better than real dolls. I grew up playing with paper dolls and talking to them by myself (being the youngest child and only girl) which is probably why up to this day I still talk to myself. I had other toys but I liked those cardboar cutouts best.

I didn't make dresses for the paper dolls since I am not adept at visual art. But if you can make them, why not? The paper dolls I had were all anime-style. Some of them were even characters from certain Japanese cartoons. I guess children who didn't have anyone to play with end up talking to themselves, since your sister and I are much alike! I guess all children at some point do pretend-play, but as for me I never got rid of the habit of talking to myself and imaginary people I'd like to speak with.

Hmmm... most girls response are paper dolls and how much they like it. I i'm not fond of paper dolls but i still buy for my older sister. So, you make your own paper doll dress too? Cause my sister been asking me to create one for her since i'm a bit good in drawing. You and my sister are the same, she love to talk to her dolls and to her self too since i don't play with her.

Since I am the only one child for my family. So you can imagine I was adored when I was a child. My family didn't let me play in the street with other children since they thought it was not so safe. At that time I had quite a lot of different toys in my childhood. I had dolls, toy cars, game boy, video game, bricks, robots, remote-controlled car, bike and so on. This is why today I often buy toys for my son. It seems it is our home's tradition. I love China

Wow! You almost have the toys most children want. But, aren't you jealous of the kids playing freely on the streets? It is more fun to play and interact with someone specially you have these gorgeous toys to share. Maybe it's a family tradition and also you only want to share to your son how your parents brought you. I'm interested to visit China.

I never really remember my toys because most of the time me and my friends play role playing games. We enjoy being mothers and working in our game and we also play hide and seek. We play "patintero" - which we play on streets that involves grid drawn on the ground and we also play chinese garter, which involves a garter 2-3 yards long.

I was also playing with the other boys in the neighborhood. I remember we loved a game called "Leapsa". We also played "hide and seak" or "the ducks and the hunters". I think the children nowadays spend too much time in front of the computer and they miss all the fun of playing outside with real friends.

Boy's toys are definetly funer than girl's toys :P I don't remmember what toy's I had, but I remmember that when I was young I enjoyed playing box-games like moonopoly, risk and so forth. I also had bicycle (and still have one today), which I don't consider as a toy. I had many basketballs and footballs durying my youth since I played with them frequently and had to replace them after they got torn.

For me yes and for some boring. I'm much fond of toys for boys cause i find it much entertaining and suits my interest. wow! you're a fan of monopoly too? So you're a business person now? Since monopoly is a simple way of exposing child's interest in real estate and money.

Well, toys can be boring if you play it alone. Friends are better than toys. I remember playing hide-and-seek when I'm the "it" i quit after one game. Cause i know i'll be the "it" for the entire game. So, they change the rule/usesome versions, after the first player is caught, it calls out "Ollie Ollie oxen free" (or "all outs, all in free" or many other variations) to signal the other hiders to return to base for the next round. Usually i don't leave the base.

Hi Simonlee,My parents bought me so many toys when I was young. But I always had a tendency to check whats inside them,I wanted to know what made them move, make sound. So i used a screwdriver to open them,if I couldn't open it with it,I would throw it or hit it against the wall until it open.My parents scolded and sometimes beat me when I did that, and at some point the,(i was 9),they stopped buying me toys. Now I don't have any toys to repair,so I use my destructive skills on old tv,phone, monitor, speakers etc...there is no one stopping me..hahaha I don't remember all of my toys, because I didn't play with any of them for a long time. But I remember that remote controlled helicopter,F1 car,2 running ponies,a large pink teddy bear etc etc.I don't have any of these with me now.Oh,yes my cycle is still with me.

hahaha you're a curious kid. Never contented what you see outside. You get more thrilled if you discover something new about that toy. So what's your profession right now? Hmm... let me guess... Engineer? Technician? Now, no one gonna stop you or be scolded since you're an adult now. So, did you repair any of those stuff or gone worst? Kidding. Wow! your parents afford RC helicopter. I tantrum to have that but no effect. Thanks for the funny experience you share.=)

Well, life in our place used to be very simple. We made our own dolls made of paper. It was fun because we got to cut different types of paper clothes for the paper dolls.

When I was a kid, I used to play a lot with barbies, I have lot of them and I used to meet with my friends to create histories and play with the dolls. Usually, everyone have one or two barbies, but only one ken, so, the histories were pretty much the same all the time. :) I also liked a lot to play with roller and board games.

The toys when I was young are paper dolls, paper dress for the doll and household materials that made of clay. I remembered most fo the time I played cooking under the mango tree with my neighbors. I used to cooked the leaves and flowers everyday and pretending that was a very delicious dishes. My playmate always happy when we played like a professional chef because all of us can able to eat any food that we want in out imagination. Now I missed those days because less pressure and stress during that time.
