Where is that scary looking spider!?

There was a huge spider on my afghan.. it was about 2 inches in diameter in leg span if not more. It had a slim body, but muscular long legs... **shivers!** I froze for a minute, and then I went running for whatever I could find. I found the Windex and a fly swatter... and I came back to my room and looked on the end of the afghan and it was GONE! I haven't seen that spider since... but during the night before something went running across me. It felt a little bit heavy.. like a large kind of bug but I couldn't see. I think it might have been that spider. S said it could be living under the frame of my bed. I hope not. I don't think it is poisonous... just scary looking. We have to expect spiders to come in the house because we have an acre of woodland in our back yard. We have a little forest. I brought the windex into my room and it sits on my night stand like a gun and the fly swatter is here on my desk. I'm armed and DANGEROUS! The spider is black... all black. It's shiny.. and not hairy. I think it might be a wood spider. Anything creeped you out lately?

The average person swallows about 8 spiders a year while they sleep. I suspect this isn't the first spider that's crawled on you while you were in bed, but the description you gave sounds like it could be a dangerous spider. I would strongly urge you to call an exterminator to check under your bed.

I don't think I would swallow a spider or any bug. I'm a light sleeper and anything crawling on me would wake me up as it did the other night. I don't understand why they would want to get in bed with me and crawl on me... it ran over me and disappeared because it startled me the other night.. I'm only guessing it was that spider.

You'd be surprised, but spiders are normally territorial, so if that big one was in your room, most likely it was crawling on you. As far as why it crawled on you, you may have crickets or something in your house and the spider was looking for food.

Ohhh yuck I'd be scared to go to sleep knowing that spider was in the house and especially if it came into the bedroom! They are creepy looking little buggers thankfully we've had none recently and don't get them too often. Glad it wasn't hairy though they look even creepier :D

Hi BabyCheetah, I looked up house spiders and black spiders.. I didn't find anything exactly like what I saw, but maybe I was too panicked to really visualize so I can compare now... I found one looking like it.. but not exactly. I have been a little nervous about sleeping in there. I kept my two nightlights on to keep it a little brighter in there.

Ohhhh I don't know if I could sleep I would be too creeped out especially when you said you felt something on your back! At least it wasn't a big hairy one on your back though but any of them is just too creepy and ick! :(

NO, THANK HEAVENS nothing has creeped me out lately. I don't like any 'varmits' in the house besides me, lol. Wouldn't a bug spray be better than windex?

I was creeped out by a spider once... I walked into my bathroom (which I also used as a storage closet... go figure), and there was a spider the size of my fist sitting on my keyboard (piano). It was HUGE! My mom was always the person that dealt with the creepy-crawlies that would get into the house, but she had recently moved out (big divorce thing, story for another time), and my dad had gone out of town on business. I ran into the living room and called my mom, waking her up because it was two in the morning. She came over, trapped it in a jar, and fell asleep on the couch. Scariest fifteen minutes of my life was when I walked back in with her, and we had to LOOK for the spider, because it had crawled off my piano.

I've seen a very big one the size of my fist before. On talking about the body of it. I sprayed a whole can of raid on it and it was still alive (but barely) when my husband got home from work. He swept it up into a dust pan and tossed it into a dumpster.

Creepy! I would be screaming if I saw that. I hope you find It and squish it. I wouldn't be able to sleep thinking about it. I was sleeping last night just about to sleep and felt something crawling through ny covers. Turned out to be Patches but I didn't realize she was in my room or bed scared the crap out of me.

I hope it's not still here. I stepped on a spider about that size in the hallway 2 days later. Maybe that's the culprit.

i do not know why people are so scared of spiders. Maybe, in our country spiders are better looking than yours. because house spiders are not that scared to look at and i could just pressed them so they would die. maybe your spiders look like tarantulas that's why it is so scary. if that would be the spiders here, i would be hysterical too

*runs screaming for the hills* I hate spiders but see them here every once in awhile. It's to be expected here as well, but more then just the now sparse woods behind us, but also the cardboard and such that is all around us in this house. I plan to slowly but surely replace a lot of the cardboard that is my doing with plastic containers, this way it looks neater, stores more and doesn't break. I've had one crawling at me while I was using the computer once, ran for someone to kill it for me.
