Is it slowly dying like myspace?

I use to use this site all the time, and now I barley ever do. I have noticed that many people are turning away from it in favor of sites that pay for social activity. I think this is a good idea, as you will not make money, just for being on facebook. Your thoughts?

that's because they have been more competitors that popped up over the years like adf.ly, microworkers etc.

Facebook is on top, but I don't think they will stay there unless they start to offer their members some sort of revenue sharing or something.

May be Facebook will go on that way but take time.. Concerning to earning you can earn also in Facebook if you know how because Facebook also have a marketplace and many users and and businessman using Facebook. There are many social networking as you said like intichat, apsense but they are same concept as facebook.

Yes you can earn money on sites just like facebook. You can use facebook to earn money, but you don't earn just for using it.

I abandoned facebook because I don't like social networking, but I don't think it's anywhere near dying. Perhaps in your circle of friends, you're seeing more people leaving in favor of paid social sites, but it's still going pretty strong in my own circle of friends. I do think that Facebook could very well topple from the top one day, it's not impossible like many people seem to believe. I just don't think its probably that it will happen anytime soon.

I think that if they charge people, they will die.

Undoubtably, though I don't think they will. If they do, people would leave in droves. Even if they don't think it's a waste of time to be on facebook when they don't get paid, people probably will think that it's certainly a waste of time when they have to pay for it.

Yes, why would you pay for it when you could be getting paid for it from another site, makes no sense.

From what I can see in my friends' posts on Facebook, people are still very active there, doing all sorts of activities,so I think Facebook is still going very strong and it will be hard for any other social site to get close to it in terms of popularity, and it is true that you will not make money from it,but it can be useful to promote your online works. In conclusion,I doubt Facebook is dying,I think it will remain the most popular social site for many years from now on.

I don't think it will be on top for too long. People will realize they can make money doing the same things they do now, and they will jump on the bandwagon.

Same for me and my friends. It is still just as active as ever but there will be less growth. I don't know if it will stay as popular for long but right now, it is.

earlier I used to logon facebook daily, sometimes can be several times logon everyday. but now, facebook has so many limitations, like they forced to change to timeline, then they restrict us from inviting for add new friends. (With a sanction they will freeze our fb account for 2 days min if we invite new friends too many). Games on facebook like farmville also now very slow to load. hardly to play on farmville on facebook due to this bandwith limitation from facebook server.

I don't think it is dying. I think it was growing and now the growth has leveled out or stopped because everyone in the world has known about it. Now the stability will have to be in what they bring that is new or exciting.

Yes it is on top for now, and it may still be growing, but it will fall as soon as people figure out they can be making money.

Well not everyone is interested in making money online. My friends will not join me to do so. But some will migrate for that reason.

Facebook had its craze just like bebo, myspace, tagged and others. Sooner or later it will end up with nothing but 'teeny boppers' on it constantly updating their stats about a boy / girl they like. A-lot of people I know just mess around on the games on there now I rarely even log into it as well it just doesn't appeal to me anymore. The games become boring, the constant silly 'making dinner' 'finished making dinner' 'dinner tasted great' kind of status updates from friends every hr on the hr was ridiculous to see.

Yes I got so tired of the status updates and such. And it is already being taken over by teens. I used to play the games like crazy, but eventually got bored, and thought I'd spend my time earning, instead of wasting.

I only changed to facebook, when I saw that friendster is already dying and rotting, and this new site which is "facebook" seemed more livelier and more appealing than friendster. But now I don't get that feeling, yes I use MyLot, but the atmosphere in MyLot, from my own circle of friends seemed not doomed yet and still lively. even though they're are alot of people who are complaining of the timeline thing, but, because if they change to another social networking site, their close friends won't do the same as well, and because of the current popularity, even people from far away you can still connect. and if you change to another site, it's not sure that they will do the same because it's very tiring to start over again ;D And with regards to money, I mean earning money online, not alot of people are interested in that. I have tried to invite all of them, but most responses I have received is that they are contented what facebook provides them. I guess it's a loyalty thing to them...

Hi friend, you are right, lot of people leaving facebook and joining with the paying sites, but still some people are very much interested in fb and addicted with it. As it having a lot of facilities and people having a lot of friends with it. Due to this fb lovers, fb will remain with the same reputation.

Yes , as per the trends the profit made by facebook before was more than now, which indicates that people are using it less. Maybe the reason can be behind the everyday changes made on the facebook outlook and features which are really annoying, since people were used to old one, but facebook keeps changing its features everyday. The other reason can be the competition since now a days twitter is trending so people are just migrating towards twitter and using less facebook. Even i was once addicte to facebook and now i hardly check it.

They are slowly fading, as does everything. I use to be on a ton, now barley ever.
