Tap water is perfectly safe for a three month old if it is boiled first. There is nothing dangerous about tap water from about one year old. There are bits in tap water that could damage the babys stomachs not pure enough.Babys bottles are made from boiling water. As even we cannot drink hot water from the tap.It is a long time since I had a small baby to care for. That is what I was told when mine were young.

Ya tap water is harmful. This is because the main origin of water is from the river , it gets purified by few treatments & reached domestic storage tank where it gets chlorinated. This completely purifies it. BUT still it is harmful when we collect it in our house.. You know why?? its becuase from the domestic storage tank , it passes through many areas where the chance of getting mixed up with foreign substances like - dust , pollution, sewage are extremely high.. Many times we might have experienced tap water having odour of sewage.. So the best thing is to boil the water before consuming. Thanks for the chance Regards HS

It depends. There can be a lot of different things. Sediment, lead, chlorine, nitrates, pesticides, etc. Unfortunately boiling water doesn't remove these things. If you aren't sure if your tap water is safe, but would like to use it anyway it would be wise to invest in an osmosis machine, which helps clean out the water, so to speak. If you aren't able to do that then at the very least get your water tested. That way you'll know for certain whether it is safe or not. I hope this helps. Happy mylotting!

Hi friend, welcome to mylot. Don't give tap water directly to your little baby, as it is not purified and consists of lot of germs and virus which affects a baby. So we must boil the water and cool it before giving it to the baby and this kind of water is not harm to them, the germs are killed while boiling and we must filter the boiled water before giving it to the baby

The water of the water plant production is in line with the standards for drinking water. However this does not mean that it is the standard of drinking water. The reasons are two: (1) Tap water in the production process using chlorine to purify water can kill pathogenic microorganisms and other harmful substances, but by adding chlorine itself can be cause by chemical pollution. Chlorine can be generated with the organic matter in the water chloroform, which is a carcinogen. chlorine also undermine nutrition, easily lead to hear disease. (2)In the tap water pipe network , long-distance pipeline transportation, pipeline obsolete rust reservoir dirty for high-rise urban water tanks and buildings or regular use of disinfection can cause secondary pollution.

I would not give a baby straight tap water anywhere in the world any more. In the US, where we're supposed to have a good water supply, it's tainted with cysts, bacteria, fungi, viruses, prozac and birth control medicine, just to name a few. Many of the water treatment plants are woefully out of date and cannot filter out some of the newer contaminants like the medicines I mentioned. If you boil it, it can be even more dangerous because it concentrates some of the contaminants. Boiling will kill bacteria, fungi and viruses, and I think it will kill cysts, but the rest just get worse. Besides that, fluoride is being questioned as a possible cancer causing agent as well as delaying mental development.

Tap water is different in all locals. If you aren't sure you should boil the water before giving it to your baby. Tap water has all kinds of mineral and some are not something we want to ingest much less a small baby. It never hurts to check your water company and see if you find out what all is in the water.

I have been laying low on drinking tap water. I just do not know if I trust that stuff anymore. I use to boil my son's water when he was a baby.

If you are willing to use tap water you could get a special filter. Boiling the water will destroy some bacteria and parasites, but some viruses and parasite eggs are extremely resistant even at highly temperatures. Furthermore, remember that in the tap water, we can find substances like nitrates, which are chemical and the high temperature has no effect on them. This kind of substances are known to be a cancer cause.
