double standard

I see a lot of double standard in our society today. One of them that really pisses me off is the prevalence of insensitivity to animals. I see many pet dogs being tied with short ropes and not fed properly. We see neglected pets everywhere. Yet, these people pride themselves in being religious. They go to church regularly and attend all church activities religiously. Now that to me is hypocrisy. How can you face your god when you are neglecting His creatures? It's not just animals. This could true to the people in the house, how we treat them, etc. For me, caring for our pets is as much important as caring for members of our family. If you care for your family members but neglect your pets, then to me you are a rotten person.

hi cutie! i so agree with your statements! mr. psychoartist and i really love dogs and it really is distressing to see dogs left outside on chains and not being companions to humans as they are meant to be...i often want to kidnap one of our neighbor dogs but mr. psychoartist won't let me...this is a beautiful golden retriever who has to stay in a fenced kennel all the time and i heard her barking outside a few nights ago during a storm! i was livid! i also feel bad that society does not care more for older people or give them honor and respect that they deserve...

Hello Cutie18f I also do not understand how people can be cruel or neglectiful (also cruel) to animals and also claim to love creation according to their religious beliefs. I know that people compartmentalize their belief systems, but this one seems like a no-brainer. Besides, who would choose to have a pet but then also treat that pet cruely? I just don't get it. Peace

As an animal lover, I hate to see this too. My landlord is keeping a dog in his backyard that belongs to a friend (who is supposed to come over and feed and water the dog every day) that is looking for an apartment that will allow him to move in with a (un-neutered and crazy) Pitt Bull. It's no wonder that he can't find an apartment that will let him have the dog. Anyway, the guy hasn't been over in a month, isn't returning calls until the very last second, and the landlord is getting pretty peeved. In the beginning, we thought he was coming over to feed the dog, but when he started getting really lazy and acting strange, we knew different. Now, the owner's a really nice guy, and I'm not trying to say he's abusive to his dog, but when you scold that poor thing, he tucks his tail and runs like you're about to beat him. You even lift your hand at him while speaking loudly, and he's whining. He's a sweet puppy, and I'd love to keep him, myself, but he's been here for at least two months, and the owner isn't doing a thing for him, and we're getting nothing in return for helping his poor dog. It's sad seeing something like that happening in your own (literal) backyard.

Well, the guy SAYS he's still looking for a house, and we've bought the dog a doghouse.

I agree with you. God commanded people to take care of all His creations, including animals. The people you've mentioned are hypocrites. They should practice what they preach. If they truly believe in their god/s, they should show it through their actions, unless their god teaches them to be cruel to animals. I think having animals in your home is like having children. You can't just have children and neglect them. Likewise, you can't have pets if you can't take care of them. Animals have lives too. They're our responsibilities. If these people can't take care of their pets, they should have just let another family adopt them.
