My style of mylotting: The tortoise and the hare story

United States
July 9, 2012 1:57pm CST
We all have our own priorities when it's time to post content on mylot. Some people are eager to earn and cash out while others' enjoy having the opportunity to write. My style is to be the tortoise in the tortoise and the hare story. For those who are not familiar with the story... The hare is focused on sprinting to the finish line. The hare might want to "cash out" as soon as possible and might even push himself to the point where he burns out before reaching the finish line. The tortoise is someone who loves to write, share their point of view and is willing to take their sweet time. It's nice, to know, that eventually I will request a payment but there's no rush. I write, when I feel inspired to write, and when I feel I have something to contribute. What is your style of mylotting? What are your priorities?

Wow my friend, a very inspiring post. I am in the same boat as you since I am another tortoise. I am in no hurry to get to the payout level each month. I post only when I feel I can write something sensible and not just a couple of sentences. You would notice I post only a few responses per day though I keep checking the site most of the time. I read many discussions but until I find I have something worthwhile to say I do not post on it. I enjoy participating here and mostly I am active on the Mylot, questions and answers, life and Mylot categories. In fact I read a lot more than writing. I learn a lot each day from reading different posts. So many members write things about the happenings in their lives. Reading them gives me an idea about how things might be in life. I have still a long way to go in life and I totally love being here. I would rather earn slowly here but try to make my contribution useful to the community.

I mentioned the Mylot category twice by mistake. I meant 'make extra money' as one of the categories and Mylot as the other interest category.

oindy: I was evincing interest in this as a teacher -- when we tell stories in classes the message reaches well. Recently in a training for recruits in a foreign bank I narrated stories similar to this and they started demanding one story per session and I had to share my personal career experiences to make it interesting. yes. you may like this link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dJ_MN-ZpXIU and http://www.citehr.com/2922-hare-tortoise-story-updated-version.html good day.

I like your style which I think, I can also adopted in my life here in mylot. Your write may be me is one of them who wants immediate cash out or puhing myself to earn more money here. May be yes because I need money a lot of money before October 2012. However, I enjoy through my particifation and discussion as same as you are doing. Do you think you can determine in my discussion and responses that I want only money not enjoyment?

hi sherrybelle I am more on your tortoise side as I love to write and to respond to my friends here too. sure I want to earn but slow and careful often wins the race too.I did not have enough for payout in May due to my computer shorting out and taking my great Samsung led monitor with it. my son has now rebuilt my computer and bought me a new-to-me used monitor led so am happy as can be and just going at my speed so as to minimize errors and maximize content more.My priorities are to try to do the best quality posts I can do with as few if any errors as possible.so now my June pay out made over 19 dollars and my August one will possibly 'do better than that.

Really your great and very patience or doing here. But all your discussion are very inspirational and lots of information.. I'm little envy on you because I cannot earn such money a month even I can double my time here, I dont why? But I'm glad that you can return on your speed now.. keep it up...

The style you refer to doesn't apply here. The whole thing is out of our control. One day they give you 40 cents (the so called 4x earnings). Next day, they take back 38 cents! You look hard, but all you can see are deletable, guideline violating topics. One way or another you are just going to be frustrated. A frustrated tortoise or a frustrated hare, you'll still only get your two cents worth!

petersum: How are you? Interesting. I know you are making fun. the moral is true for all ages -- too much confidence is not to be adopted. yes. first time when we applied for visa we thought it will be granted certainly and I did not take the steps seriously. After it was rejected I had to bring in all my involvement and apply and then we got it. True many things are not in our control. But wherever we can regulate we must do to achieve whatever little is earmarked for us. good day.

sherrybelle: Yes. It depends on one's own situations-- for people who are well employed/retired then mylotting is a hobby and we enjoy sharing our ideas. For a few others who want certainly to make ..$ in a month-- they take it seriously and post more and more every day. In face we had a few members here who were posting responses in three digits per day. They also stopped after the situation changes due to various reasons. I enjoy writing/sharing/giving/taking information to mylot members. I am posting a link for this story -- being used in HR angle-- http://www.citehr.com/2922-hare-tortoise-story-updated-version.html good day.

I have no idea how can i describe my style but i'd like to say i am in no rush to earn lots of money. I do enjoy my time at mylot. I find interesting characters here just by reading the type of post they put out. Just from the list of post, i can see if a person is so focus about earning to a point that he or she forgets quality. As for me, i will look around first. Of course i will see the title and read the content. If i am able to post a comment and give out my opinion then i am more than willing to do so. My priorities will be money but at the same time trying my best to put out quality response or even quality topics. Although i do admit on certain days, i will just follow the masses who will post topics that i myself would barely know how to respond to. I guess i need to bring out my "Coca cola is a very nice drink" and "Why chicken can't fly like any other birds?" story instead.

Mylot has been a great contribution to my life in terms of helping me with everyday problems and information. Having people comment and give suggestion on your topics is a huge blessing because it helps me make a decision or gives me general information in everyday life. Consequently, I also try to comment to every posts my friends have made. I check my mail and go through every notification of a new discussion. Lately I haven't had made my own discussions because I have been busy with work.

I'm in between. I post to discussions daily because I enjoy this site but also to try and make cashout. Not having a job makes me a little more eager to get to the cashout so I have a bit of extra money for things. MyLot has been another great money making avenue for me especially since I lost another one just recently due to being banned for no good reason
