Babylon Search In Google Chrome

Is anyone else aware of Babylon Search? Apparently, it's a translation tool but it's popped up when I did something with Java yesterday. I've managed to uninstall Babylon on internet explorer and it's gone from Firefox and Safari BUT it is still lurking on Google Chrome, even after uninstalling and reinstalling it. Because Babylon can be classed as malware I cannot risk having it on my computer, therefore I don't have Google Chrome installed anymore. I find this so frustrating as I like using Google Chrome as an alternative to Firefox sometimes. Have you had problems with Babylon Search and if you got rid of it from Google Chrome how did you do so? I've done all the usual things like unchecking it in tools but it's annoying that an uninstall and reinstall of Google Chrome hasn't got rid of it altogether.

There are complete instructions for removing Babylon here: http://forums.spybot.info/showthread.php?t=61869 It is classed as 'adware' and often gets installed by default (though there is usually an option to turn it off) when you install certain 'free' programs which, presumably, earn something as affiliates of the program. To avoid anything like this in the future, make sure that you read EVERYTHING carefully when installing freeware and uncheck all the things which you don't want.

The instructions include a list of registry entries to be removed/modified. ALWAYS back up your registry before making changes in regedit.

Yes I've had this issue but with Firefox. I actually got so frustrated with it that I made an article about a few different things you can try to have it removed from your system. Mine is finally gone. I'm still scared to post links here even though it will be a useful one so maybe I could PM you and that article will have the info
