I recently caught a Trojan on my computer and hired someone to come fix it. He took it for nearly a week and I just got it back on Tuesday. Since getting it back it has actually been worse than before! Suddenly my popup blocker isn't working at all. My browser has developed hiccups that make it slow loading pages and I've lost several of my photos that I had on the computer when he took it. This guy charged me $55 for this service and he has left my computer a total mess! Should I demand my money back?

Lol..wait what? You paid $55 to get rid of that Trojan $hit? You could have done it by yourself instead of paying that much money to someone who did nothing but mess up with your personal data.Should you demand the money back? I don't think he will pay back a cent. Okay why not try removing and then reinstalling the web browser and obviously addons you use? It will fix the problem. And try data recovery software to get lost data back to you.

Okay, first of all I am not that tech savvy to be able to work on my own computer. Second of all, my computer, which is less than a year old, did not come with any software so I could do my own reformatting of my hard drive. I used to work on my Dell but my Toshiba is a piece of tin and I cannot work on it. Third, I get lost in the maze of all the programs and add-ons and such. It's as bad as when I get ahold of a book and am trying to read a font that my dyslexic brain can't process. So I do need help with my computer. I'm sure you are a regular geek and can't imagine not being able to manage without help but I'm far from being a geek. And for a woman of my generation I think I'm actually pretty tech savvy so I make no apologies. You're right about him not being willing to give me back my money, I'm sure. I just won't be calling that particular company to work on my computer again, that's for sure.

I have no data recovery software and wouldn't know how to use it if I did have it. Half the programs on my computer never get used because I don't know how to use them. lol

Yeah, he said he had to reformat my hard drive. While I have done that before on other computers, this one failed to come with the reformatting software so I couldn't do it myself. Still, he should have been able to put everything back where he got it, you would think, right?

I think that guy has experimented with your computer and the popups will surely slowdown the computer speed since its always equivalent to a malware and can be corruptible at times ,so its always better and nice to get the money back from him and demand a correct and good regular service fully without any mess again and make sure the browser runs properly without any flaws caused because of extra add-ons and you make sure you ask him for the backup of photos which you had since that might be deleted or transferred somewhere

Yah, he did something weird with my backup. He put it in a separate folder but he didn't sort out the programs from the documents and I'm scared to delete anything in that folder cuz I don't know if any of it is essential to the operation of my computer. I just think next time I'll find a different person to work on the thing. I don't like taking my computer back to someone who didn't do it right the first time.

hi dear alaskanray, if this was the case over here I would sure demand my money back. 55 bucks is a lot of money and you can expect the computer to run perfectly after spending such a sum on repairs. I am really sorry we dont live anywhere near you cause I would ask my husband to help you out. He is a computer freak and I guess he would help you free of charge, except for hardwear he doesnt have here.....
