It depends on different reasons. First you must tell about the configuration of your system and how much free space is there then only it will further helpful to all to solve your query. If ram and harddisk is not a problem then you can use ccleaner software which cleans all unnessary programs in cookies and registy. After that you can try defragmentation and check disk to sort out your problem.

Other than a possible virus attack, try looking at the physical aspect. . Possible dying hard disk. . When was the last time you cleaned your computer? An overheated system can also be a contributing factor.

One of the possible reason for PC slowdown is that your computer may have so many background programs running that there is not enough main memory to run your main programs. And as I think whenever new Windows programs are installed and uninstalled, they leave behind parts of themself that can slow down or crash your computer. These are mostly .dlls and other shared files.

Beteer to try fresh install your O/S, but before that you need to backup your data.

All right do these steps 1) Antivirus. Get a good anti virus software (preferably paid) and do a full system scan. 2) Clear out your harddrive. Uninstall useless programs. Delete useless files etc. 3.) Defragment your drive.

It depends on quite a few factors like 1.processor speed and ram 2. Did you scan for malware or virus? 3. Run the command msconfig and remove unnecessary service in the background Hope this help

Well i suppose you should update your computer once and remove all the viruses as they contribute to its sluggishness.

If you're computer needs a bit large of space you can add additional gig on your hard drive or just back up your files on your external hard drive and delete the files on your computer. This will help you to lessen and give you some space. Also, you can clean your cache, history and cookies. Run your anti virus to clean the system. If still no improvement, i think you better upgrade your OS and specs.

Few things. Download and run CCleaner. Use it to clean up your registry (create a backup!) and clean out all the temp files. Then, check to see what is starting under Tools-Startup. You shouldn't have much there, just a few basic things such as an anti-virus program or possibly a torrent program. Next, you should make sure you have an anti-virus program that is up to date. I find Malwarebytes and Windows Defender to be quite sufficient. Lastly, make sure your drivers are all up to date. This will make your components run properly. If you've done all these and it is still incredibly slow, it may be time for the computer to be wiped and have your operating system reinstalled. I typically do this ever six months to a year.
