Yahoo Voices published my article and even paid me upfront money!!!

Many mylotters know of my desire and attempts to earn money by writing online. That includes my ups and downs with Yahoo Voices, formerly known as Associated Content. I really like the site but I have had difficulties getting published on Yahoo Voices since the name change in December. I was not giving them what they wanted. I got some good suggestions and advice from my friends and others at mylot. Well, good news. I wrote an article about my recent trip to Boston. I titled paragraphs. I included some pictures that I had taken. I attached links and I wrote more than I usually do. I submitted it one day and it came back the next offering me over $3 as an upfront payment. This is the first time that I have been offered upfront payment since October plus it is one of the few articles that Yahoo Voices would publish since December. It is the only article that did not require editing since October. I had become so discouraged. Now I feel so hopeful. Thanks to all you mylotters who assisted me.

I became interested on this discussion so i did search and read about Yahoo voices, but then while going into guidelines before joining, I found out that it is only applicable with those who live in USA. So it just saddens me knowing that I'm from the Philippines..:(

I am glad there are places like MyLot where we meet people from all over the world. I often feel badly for people who would like to participate on sites that are limited to only certain countries.

Yahoo Voices was previously known as Associated Content and was open to the International Community. Yahoo bought the site and only made it available to he United States. But now, I believe that they have open the site to those in England. I would have loved it to continue as an International site.

Hey, well done, Phil. Coming on top of your first Helium payout, this is turning out to be a good month for you and your writing. It's like that in the writing world - you seem to struggle on for months with virtually no reward, and just when you feel like giving the computer a flying lesson, it all comes together, and you're on top of the world. Enjoy your success - you deserve it.

It has been a good week for me and maybe a good month. I am sticking with both Yahoo Voices and Helium at this point. I like both sites equally. For my writing, one sometimes works better than the other. I have also been getting some good surveys from other sites. I like your new picture, Sandra.

Thanks, Phil. I think it's more natural, although the other photo is probably more glamorous. Still, I'm a 60 year old writer, not a model or a film star, so a picture that reflects my personality is more appropriate. I've had a lot of positive feedback on the change, so it was obviously the right thing to do.

Hi Bostonphil, you are a few years too late for the upfront thing. A few years ago, Associated Content gave out as much as ten dollars, then later the average was four to six dollars. Now it is just two to three dollars. Anyway, you will continue to earn from the article. Just make sure you promote as much as possible, and get a lot of views for every single article. Once you reach clout 10, you do not have to worry too much about upfront payment. The passive income is enough to pay for some of the bills.

I have long had the feeling that I missed Associated Content when it was at its best. That was before Yahoo bought it, right? I only heard about these writing sites a year ago from other mylotters and that was when I signed up with Associated Content. Even early on, I saw a change. I signed up last July and I began to notice changes by October but the real change happened in December with the announcement of Yahoo Voices. Changes seem to come when a small site is bought by a bigger site and then a much bigger site. Usually the changes are not for the better. I was on MySurvey when it was a small site. It was bought by a bigger site and then a much bigger site. I once got several surveys a week. If I did not qualify, I still got a small reward but I also always qualified for two or three a week. Now, I get one survey every two to three weeks. I might qualify for one every five or six weeks. If I don't qualify. I now get entered into a sweepstakes and I never win anything.

That's wonderful. I am glad you are inspired and hopeful once again. It can be discouraging to not get articles published with an upfront offer. Good luck in the future.

The upfront payment, most definitely, has given me the oomph that I needed but even when I did not get any payment upfront, I was having trouble getting my articles published. Since December, a few of my articles were just out and out rejected. All others were sent back for editing but in some cases, my editing did not suffice and the article had to be deleted. This is the first article that I have submitted since October that was published without needing any editing plus to add frosting to the cake, I was given an upfront payment. And it has already gone to PayPal. I really needed the strokes.

I sent you a PM about getting my latest published and even being given some upfront payment. We have communicated in the past about getting published on Yahoo Voices. You made some very good suggestions. I took them and I added a few changes of my own. It worked, at least this time.

I sent you a pm as well for a congratulations. I think yahoo does change the standards a little too often. I am so glad the information I sent you helped. I know the lady that had given it to me helped me get published again. I hope your articles continue to get published with the upfront payments you want.

My heartiest congratulations to you my friend!I am really happy for you. I have never been a member of AC and now Yahoo Voices is not available here. I would have tried out my luck otherwise. I understand that the site has set a high standard for the articles they publish. But you have such talent my friend.I have always admired your writing style. 3$ is good as upfront payment. I really do hope you can earn a lot more there from your writing. My best wishes to you.

Hi, I would actually love to read what you have written. So could you send me the link via PM or at Facebook?I read a lot of my friends' articles on Hubpages as it would help their earnings and also me as I get to increase my knowledge. Also, I have another good site to recommend to you from which I already earned a dollar, paid instantly to Paypal. The site is paying instantly every time we reach $0.05. I am eager to tell about it to you.

I am not certain if I can send a link from Yahoo Voices but I will try sometime this week. I think that you have to join Yahoo Voices and search for my article but I am not certain of that. If so, I will PM you with the name that I write under. Even though you can not write for Yahoo Voices, I wonder if you can join to read articles. I would love for you to read mine. But first, i will do my best to send you a link. I got your PM. I have a few very busy days ahead of me and I do not have time to check out anything. I will get back with you soon. I have not had a survey from Paid Viewpoint in a couple of days. I was really expecting one today.

I would love to see Yahoo Voices go International. Apparently, there was a time when Associated Content was until Yahoo bought the site. It seems like Yahoo Voices has become pickier since the name change in December. I had a lot of trouble getting my articles published. This article was more professional and tighter. I gave them what they wanted. I will have to take a little more time and be more professional in the future. I, too, would like to earn more from my writings. That is why I continue to write. I love seeing my articles published. I love seeing seeing that some or many persons have viewed my articles but I do not mind the money at all. I kinda like the additional money also.

Congratulations, Phil! I used to write some for the site when it was still AssociatedContent but at the end it became harder to get published and upfront payments became ridiculously low. I prefer writing for places like TextBroker, where I know what I'll be making and when I'll get paid. I did just sign up with Gather, though - they take your previously published content so it looks like a good way to repurpose existing content and earn a bit more.

I am new to online writing. I am not a professional writer and am not aspiring to be. It was through mylot that I became aware of these online writing sites where you could even earn a little money! I joined Associated Content last July and immediately had a little success. Things began to change beginning with last October. First, I could no longer get any upfront payments but it got worse. Beginning in December, I could not even get my articles published when I had no problems before. Yahoo Voices would not even publish some very good pieces. I was getting very discouraged and getting ready to give it up. I like the site but they seem to have gotten a little stingy and picky after the official change to Yahoo Voices. I hope they are beginning to relax some. I am on Gather but I do not "get it". The site does not work for me. I do not seem to understand it. I may look into TextBroker but at this point, I am trying to stick with Helium and Yahoo Voices.
