Are we going to have to have security at the movie theater now?

Be aware of your surroundings. Anything that is moving is a target. When you go to a movie? This is just bizarre. Have you seen the news about this? Some guy shot 71 people and killed 12 in a MOVIE THEATER. He said he was 'the joker' from the batman movies. (link below)What about this bizarre happening? Your thoughts. http://www.foxnews.com/us/2012/07/20/deadly-shooting-colorado-movie-theater-dark-knight-rises/

It appears that we are seeing more and more bizarre shootings. The shooter, James Holmes, seemed to have some kind of mental, depression problems as he never spoke to anyone or even acknowledged his neighbours when they spoke to him. This was especially bizarre given where this all took place and during the latest Batman movie. It almost seen that any crowded place could be the scene of some horrific event.

I also think that James Holmes might have been suffering from some kind of depression. I think it might be one of the horrific event that had happened.

I think Holmes is sociopathic or psychopathic. Also that he has fantasized about this for a long time. These type of people are pretty bizarre.

We have all kinds of people out there. Some can really be influenced by the movies and other media products they saw. Even if you have security in a theatre, I don't think it would be much of help as it is really dark in there and the shooter would just have to shoot at every angle. The securities can't as they may accidentally shot civilians. Perhaps the best way is to have check and scan sessions before entering the theatre.

Now they say he really didn't say he was the Joker. Who knows. It wouldn't surprise me if he really said it considering people use movies as excuses to commit horrific crimes. I have to admit I will be a little uncomfortable now going to the movies. I don't go to the movies but once a year. And usually that's for someone's birthday. Of course I never go at night. Because of how expensive it is. So I guess you have a less likelihood of getting shot in the daytime than the night time (regarding movie theaters). Kudos to the bomb squad who when the suspect told them he had explosives in his apartment, instead of just going in like the suspect hoped, carefully looked around using a robot. Thanks to their caution people's lives were saved.

Yeah, there was a tweet going out that he didn't say he was the Joker and it had been a rumor spread. But just now on the news they said he did indeed say he was the Joker, and he had also dyed his hair red like the Joker.

I haven't heard that. I have heard several times he said he WAS the joker. I don't go to the movie theater very often. Just for big epics. I don't like the seperate rooms in the theaters. Another reason for my social anxiety to continue. And he tried to manipulate the police over to his apartment by putting a timer on some loud music so he could have full rein of terror at the theater before they could get there. Luckily that didn't work like he wanted it to. Just shows too that he gave this ALOT of thought.

It is sooo sad that things like this happens. What in the world are people coming to , to do such a terrible thing. I guess there is no guarantee that u can be safe anywhere anymore not even your own home. I can't think of a punishment that would be bad enough for this guy.How can people do such awful things????

Crazy is right! What about that guy!? Totally under the radar too. No criminal record..no internet history. They know more about me than him..lol. I thought it was very bizarre. It just goes to show you that we never know who is sitting next to us. Enough to make everyone a bit more cautious for sure. I thought it was a little odd that his mother was a nurse in a psychiatric hospital and didn't seem one bit surprised, they said, when they talked to her. Hmmmm

I think he was psychopathic or sociopathic or alittle of both. I think he fantasized on doing this for quite some time and failing that test was just the last straw. Maybe she has flown under the radar for a while too. Mental disease down come down through the generations. And maybe there was some pride involved with her reaction.

Celtice, seems like nowadays it is not safe to watch movie in the theater anymore. We never know what is going to happen to us while sitting in that dark area. Theater supposed to be a place for people to relax and watching their favorite movie. But, seems like it is time to spend more time at home rather than spending time in the theater. We should always think, safety should always comes first.

I don't know if Netflix is available for international countries or not. I know they have foreign language films. You might check their website. (www.netflix.com)

Personally just because of this, there are people now who are afraid to go to the movies. And many places have beefed up their security to help prevent something like this. But personally I feel this is just a happen stance and most of the time things like this are few and far between. But knowing you can go somewhere and have Good security protecting you could be a plus for sure. Just wonder how the Theaters are fairing after this?

I know I have rethunk my few outings to movies. I know the theater company has given a great amount of money to the funding for the injured which I thought was great. There are still 10 victims in the hospital four of which are still in critical condiiton. Holmes doesn't even see these people as humans, just pawns in his little game.

I also think most probably there must be security checking in public places and also in popular places to reduce these type of events happening. I think most probably the person must be suffering from some kind of psychotic disorder and probably thought he was the joker of batman movies. I hope this type of things does not happen in the future.

In most big buildings, like a movie theater, there is security but more for off hours not during useage. I think he was psychopathic and had been fantasizing on this for quite awhile.

hes a nut job just like all the others that shoot people down for no reason. used to be people could get put into institutions by others that observed crazy behavior. they would be tested to see if something was wrong and they had to stay if it was. these days you cant do that. you just have to wait until they do something really terrible even if you see they are not right

I would wager he is either a psychopath or sociopath. I think he has been fantasizing about this for quite sometime. And the failure of that test was just what it took to take him over the edge.

This guy is a total wack job! I am sure he will try to plead insanity! He killed 12,injured 71 more and there is a chance more will die! He should rot in prison for what he did! You are right no one is safe anymore and it doesn't matter where you are! Now I am also sure there will be more security at movie threaters and elsewhere! What a loser and an idiot this jerk is!

Really makes a person wonder what happens to these smart people. He was on his way to a Phd. in neural science. There is certainly a thin line between genious and wack job.

People just lost their mind, and they found killing as the final resort to their problem. For me, such tragedies happen all the time in the U.S. somehow, too many people just couldn't handle their daily stresses, and they see killing as the final solution to everything. More and more shooting and killing might happen in the future. Because they just follow the precedent as their ultimate example.

Daily stresses? SOme. But guys like this one are psyopathic. They feel that people are just their pawns to do with as they please and have no feeling for them at all. Their fantasy is our destruction.
