I am watching Bottom Line with Boy Abunda. They are talking about the stem cell treatments for some diseases. The topic sounds interesting. According to his guest, there are many uses of the stem cell therapy. It can be use to treat some severe diseases like cancer but still it will not guarantee that you will be going to survive or not. Furthermore, stem cell treatment can also be used in cosmetics purposes. They said that it can be use to make people look young. How about you other mylotters, what ar your idea about stem cell treatment or teraphy? Good day!

Actually I know that stem cell is in its infancy still and has not yet been fully accepted by many as some says it is immoral to use this new found technology. But I guess we all have to see what we can know about this in fighting diseases especially those that still cannot be cured by modern medicines. I think it is high time people will be able to afford it since i know having this would mean that they need to invest a lot since there are a few who practices this.

Well I think recently they say that you can get stem cells from bone marrow of the patient and from there you can grow them outside of the body of the patient and then re-inject them back to the patient's body. This way incompatibilities will be avoided since the stem cell came from the patient's body already. I do not know if the practice of getting from umbilical cords of new born babies are still being practiced. They say that the stem cell of umbilical cords are the best since the stem cells from this part of the body is not yet fully developed and you can program them to produced new cells of any parts of the body.

Yes this is one way of using the stem cell technology. They will get a potion from the affected ares, let say kidney, and they will plant the stem cell there and let it grow. Once it was already done, they will implant it to the affected area and let the stem cell works in treating the affected body parts. There are cord bank already available here in the Philippines that you can put the umbilical cord of your baby when they are born. However, again, it will really cost a lot.

You are right. This issue became the roots of controversy of this medical treatment. However, nowadays, they are using the umbilical cord of their babies for the ste cell. Just ike what I responded to other comment. Because of the cost of this treatment, only few person can really afford to have this stem cell treatment either by treating disease or cosmetic purposes.

Jessica Soho's show also once featured about Stem Cell. I was impressed with how it will likely to help us especially when it comes to fighting against ageing and curing diseases. I think scientists have worked hard just to meet our needs. We certainly need this thing however, I hope it will not lead to bad effect. We must use it in a good way and don't abuse.

As always, the upper class gets the upper hand of the situation. I hope this technology would one day be available to everyone else, regardless of economic status.

The most promising result from stem cell research now is the ability of using embroynic stem cell to grow body part and internal organs, its ability to help patient who lost internal organ to diseases and cancer cells to grow back after treatment is a great news especially to those who can't find replacement organ or donor to fill the void. The only issue here is that this medical miracle will be very costly, only those who can afford to pay many thousand can actually benefit from it, for the poor patients, they can only hope for other type of treatments that are available to them, while stem cell treatment is out of reach for them in near future.

Before, it became controvesial because the stem cell will be gathered from the embryo which is inhumane. But now, there are other sources like animals and even eggs. Other uses the umbilical cord of their babies. They will just deposit it in a cord bank and can be retrieved in case needed. However, depositing in bank is really cost too much same with the treatment.

The method you are talking about is really inhuman act. That is one sad thing about this technology.

Stem cells are derived from tissues of the body that are continually proliferating.Usually, it is from the bone marrow. The cost is expensive for a lot of us. The possible number of treatments would cost so much and thus, not yet an answer to the dream of cure for deadly diseases.I hope that ways are being sought to remedy this problem.

I do not know much about stem cell. But it seems there are a lot of concern on ethical issue regarding the source of stem cell. Once the issue can be solved, I think it is good starting for curing degenerative disease or genetic problems disease. Wish earth to be better

I think the main issue is the source of the stem cell. One of the source of these stem cell is from the embryo which might affect the embryo itself.

Actually, this is very new to me. I heard it also and the very thing that I remembered about it is that it is a very expensive treatment. Well, it's good if it will make people look young and will help people in treatment of diseases. I hope this thing will not bring any further complications.

Like everything what is new and promises cure for diseases like cancer, gives hope that finally there is a solution. Stem cell treatment sounds promising, but I'm afraid that like many alternative methods, it will never be part of the mainstream treatment. Or maybe for those who can afford it, but I hope I'm not right.

You are right. This treatment promises that it can cure disease like cancer however, they are not yet sure if you will cope up and treated. I also knew that this would cost about a million whic is really high enough not to afford by many.
