Do you believe in mermaid?

It has been a mystery if mermaid exist or not. I went through the net some days ago to see the pictures of mermaids. And I think it existed long time ago. There were some pictures showing mermaids washed away on the shore.....they seemed real but they are not as beautiful as we think they are. They are like sea creatures with a horrible face. Hope I could see one soon washed away on the shore.

Sorry I just wanted to know if mermaids existed or exist. It is probably not a poll type discussion. I did watch the link you mentioned. I can see it is a horrible sea creature with a human resemblance. We have given it a name and a beautiful image. It is like that. When we draw a stag, we show a different image than it really is. so it is the same with mermaids.

A mermaid is not a mystery, it is a myth. The idea of mermaids goes back thousands of years. Throughout the ages sailors have reported sights of such creatures, which usually started by them seeing something similar and often exaggerating the event.
With the advance of understanding and knowledge of the creatures of the sea the reports gradually diminished, as did the rumours of sea monsters.

You are right, mermaids are make believe story. It is indeed a myth which is a fantasy. No one has ever seen a mermaid till today.

hi velentina,The first mermaid stories appeared in ancient Assyria,in which the goddess Atargatis transforms herself into a mermaid out of shame for accidentally killing her human lover.So many stories about mermaids you will find in internet.
However,the us national ocean Service Stated in 2012 that no evidence of mermaids has never been found.But i like to listen mermaid stories.

Mermaids also mythical creature, very much like the unicorn. While there are some water creatures that look like a mermaid and people who spotted it mistaken it as one. For one moment, I can't remember the name of the animal that is most mistaken as a mermaid.

Mermaids are a myth sailors use to explain dolphins, which might be what those 'mermaids' you saw pictures-of are.

hi valentina! i am not sure if mermaid are real or not when i was browsing the tv i saw a mermaid skeleton which they confirm that maybe it is a mermaid but for me im not satisfy with that to believe that mermaid is exist, for me i believe in the saying that to see is to believe.

I think mermaids are just a folkloric fantasy. But I do wish that they really do exist!! That would be so fun. ;-)

I think that a mermaid is a beautiful fantasy but purely a mythicsal creature. Until someone can prove to me without a dhadow of a doubt that mermaids exist, they will live only in fiction.

There are good looking mermaids also.But I don't know if they can breath out of water.I will have to keep it my aquarium,if I caught one.But if they are half human,then they can breath out of water.What do you think?What do they eat...will they eat fish food?
