Ugh. I really could strangle the guy who rented this house to us. We found out when we moved in that he didn't know that the Home Owner Association covered trash collection. Before we moved out here my husband called and around priced internet services. We ended up with AT&T Uverse because the service is supposed to be so great since its Fiber Optic to the door and the speed was fast (25mbs down, 3mbs down) Let me just say, I do not like AT&T and after dealing with them again for a few months, that opion has not changed. Today I broke down and called Time Warner (not eww on my list). I find out that this entire time we have been paying for cable and basic and expanded is FREE. Yes, you read that right free. So that is $225 that we have wasted. Oh yeah, and they have the upload speed my husband wants for his gaming streams and faster (30mps, 5mps) internet for LESS than we are paying for Uverse now with discounts.... The Realtor is about to get a really nasty phone call. Such a shame because I really like the guy

The Realtor doesn't own the house or pay the association fees. The owners of the house pay all that, he is just like the property manager. I do not feel like he stole from us - especially had we asked about cable prior to moving in, we would have been told it is free. I am more mad because SHOULD have known and the owners should have reminded him everything that the dues covers prior to him renting the home out again.

You get free cable??? Wow, I would be totally upset too, but grateful for the free service..I wonder how good it is though? Like is it slow or does the cable go out often???

We have lived a few places where we have gotten free internet or cable, but never in a housing development. We will find out. The tech is coming out tomorrow to hook up the difference service. We have had time warner in the past, but it was many years ago. The service was always good, just expensive. Even with most of the bill free, we are still paying more than I'd like, but much less than we were with UVerse.

I think free internet would be better. Honestly, if the cable isn't good. I'm not going to complain. I'll just return the DVR and get rid of the few channels we paid for (Out of pocket for all that $10/month) and use the cash to buy Starbucks lol

I hope the service is good and you are so fortunate, I would love to have free internet service in my community...

I'm not sure why your cable would be free I dont understand. Is it because of the building you live in or something? I knpw here with ininternet company that I have at my house it is around $40 a month. So whenever I am online I am always doing things like mylot to earn money.

The subdivision we live in has an Homeowners Association. The owners of this house (not the Realtor) pay dues to this association. The Association does things like: pays for trash, up keeps the club house, maintains the pool, ect. Apparently those fees also provide free basic & expanded cable to the subdivision as well.

AT&T is rubbish. I would never recommend them to anyone. It's good that you have now discovered this instead of spending any more money on AT&T, though.

We have a bad history with both companies. I told my husband before we moved that AT&T isn't a good choice, then again Time Warner isn't either. So its a catch 22. I wish the Verizon FIOS was available in our area because its the same speed for half of the Time Warner price.
