I was reading an article in I think Women's Day magazine last night, it caught my attention. Grapefruit superfood to lose weight! This was a seonc edition of a diet plan that they'd tried before, this one is much more simple (or so they say). Basically the gist is that Grapefruit is a great fruit to eat to lose and shed those pounds. Apparently it has something in it that helps take away the hormone that causes us to retain the fat, or something like that.. In any case the gist reccomendation was 2 grapefruits a day, halved and eaten at each meal. So like 10 - 20 before each meal (breakfast, lunch and dinner) eat half of a grapefruit and then prepare a meal (which they reccomend). I think they said no more then like 120 calories for snacks and 240 each real meal. They had a suggestion for lunch of something (I forget what) and then unlimited veggies! They also said that if you wanted to get rid of the acidity of the grapefruit (because of stomach problems) take olive oil and spread a teaspoon of it over the grapefruit halve and let sit for an hour. Voila! No more acidity! I plan to get some grapefruit and see how this does. By the way, reember if you take cholesterol or blood pressure meds grapefruit can interact, always consult the doctor beforehand! Have you tried this or similar? I believe the article said you could lose like 10 lbs in a week just by this.. not exactly healthy I suppose.

I know my mother and a couple of my aunts have tried a fast weight loss plan i am not sure exactly how they worked for my aunts I mean I think they lost weight but not dramatic as for my mom she maybe lost a few pounds but not enough to validate what she ate for the week. She did the cabbage diet where you eat cabbage for almost all your hungers but you have to also follow a daily diet where you can only eat certain food for day one and so on. I have tasted the cabbage soup before when my mom tried it and it did t taste that bad but it wouldn't be anything I would want to eat everyday for a week

I've heard of the cabbage diet. I bet there is a diet for every fruit or vegetable imaginable! Lol. I do plan to buy some grapefruit, but I won't really change my diet all that much. I'll buy a few veggies and try to drink more water. Moderation is best, no matter the person.. I think that's the best diet of all.

I love, LOVE pink grapefruit. Unfortunately with this medication I am taking for my Cholesterol I am not allowed to eat any grapefruit or even drink grapefruit juice. I'm not sure why that is only that I just can't have it.

I'm not really all that big of a fan of it myself. I used to have to take medication and was told not to eat or drink grapefruit with it, so I know how you feel. I wasn't even a big fan of it and I was bummed!

sounds like an extremely low cal diet - grapefruit or no grapefruit you'd lose weight - so, they get rid of the acidity? How do you get rid of the vile taste of grapefruit?

People tend to love quick fixes. However, in order to lose weight and keep it off, it requires long-term dietary changes. While you may lose weight on this diet, the weight will come back after you have stopped the diet.

I think that if people were to have more fruits and veggies in their diet, and keep themselves determined to buy MORE of those, LESS fast food... it'd be a lot easier to keep weight off without really dieting...

Fruit cures are good to lose fat quickly -- up to 5 kgs/10 lbs per week --. The most popular here is the grapes cure, known since the Antiquity and done in Autumn during 1 to 3 weeks. It is a "eat grapes only" cure. Every fruit cure -- there is also a pineapple cure -- is a disguised fast : the organism does not receive enough calories from the fruits during the cure to maintain itself and finds these calories elsewhere in the body, so it can be dangerous if it is done during a too long time.

Grapes huh? I do love Grapes. You just eat grapes only? I woudln't eat just any fruit, I'd have to have something else.. though if there is enough I will eat a whole bag of grapes etc in two days... Pineapple is good, I almost said I'd go on it but I don't want to do more harm to my body...

This would never work for me because I cannot eat grapefruit without adding heaps of sugar, which defeats the benefits I'd think. For me personally, I am most successful at losing weight when I go low carb (short term only) or count calories. Truthfully, healthy eating is a lifestyle change, but we all want a quick fix, myself included!

They said use Stevia to sweeten the grape fruit if you need it sweetened. I'm not sure how much, i don't remember if they gave a measurement for that. IT's true we just ened to figure out what works for us, but counting calories works... Quick fixes, not always good.. I tend to trust the "Grape fruit" quick fix though.

The Grapefruit diet has been around for 40 years or better. If you go back & read, it's NOT the grapefruit that makes you lose the weight!!! 240 calorie real meals & 120 calorie snacks plus ALL the veggies you can eat...That's a 1,000 calorie-a-day diet. You can lose 10 pounds a week if you can eat only 1,000 calories a day without the added grapefruit!!! I love grapefruit, but this diet never worked for me. Mainly because I can't live on a 1,000 calories a day. Just NOT enough food to satisfy my caloric needs!!!
