Are You A Believer In God?

I'm sure this question has been asked a million times, but do you believe in God? Do you feel there is a higher power greater than us that controls our universe? I'm curious because I often ask myself the same question. How about you? Are you a believer or do you also question it? Be honest!

What god are you speaking of? There have been thousands of gods imagined since the dawn of our species. There is no rational reason to believe in any of the gods since there is not a shred of evidence to support such a belief.

Hello Chiang_Mai You have rightly mentioned that there is no shred of evidence of God' existence. If you look back, you will find that till 1919 there was no proof of existence of Proton in an atom. So my humble question is was there no proton in existence till it was discovered? Newton conceived atom indestructible - is it true? Until, science made considerable advance, it was true. However, of late with Quantum Physics, Newtonian view proved to wrong for atoms etc. And relating to God, thousands of images of God reflect a single concept that there exists a power or energy which is omnipotent - that works on four known forces of the universe. Such an idea, though coined as belief, is unlikely to be irrational. Yes, one may say that depicting a force or energy or power in traditionally known images of God is scientifically wrong, however the images are used to objectify that omnipowerful energy in a way so that common people can perceive it. Scientific equations of Einstein will not be understood masses. As you have said, existence of God in the minds of people since the dawn of human society, you know that science is still a toddler in this field of great mystery of nature. Science agrees but unable to understand 4-dimension, then how can it prove existence of supreme power?

Science at this point can neither prove or disprove the existence of your alleged great power but there is no evidence at this time that it exists. With no evidence to support its existence the default position must be to leave it out of our thinking.

Nothing is proven or disproven but there is an answer to everything. Where do we come from? Why do we have emotions? There is something, but it's not easy to explain. A higher power? Perhaps and perhaps not. I guess we will never know, at least not yet. Thank you both for your reply.

I do believe in God. The idea that the universe was created by accident just doesn't make sense to me. I don't often question the existence of God, my questions are more about why He allows certain things to happen. There have been so many proofs in my life that He exists that I cannot deny that He does.

I recently started reading this book called Everything Happenes For A Reason. In it it tells you reasons behind why things happen. It's an enlighting book. I question a lot, and like I told everyone, I believe in something, I just don't know how to describe it.

Certainly, I see the sky, the harmony in nature, how animals are so called irrationals and inferior to us don't leave their kids and form societies, how life developes in so many different ways and I'm sure Someone that Is all Love and Goodness created all this.

There is a reason for everything. Emotions, people, different races and languages. Everything is created I do believe that much. Things are just not easy to understand. I gather they are what they are, but everything has an answer.

I do not need proof’s to know of God’s existence. I do not have all the answers to what is going on with the universe. When it comes to these kinds of questions I do not take them on face value. It is like my daddy, he is not on this earth but he is in me. I believe in him because of all his qualities and I did know he loved me. I knew when he told me something it was because he cared. I do not look for control, I look for guidance and I know questions about anything are only good when we have some respect for the things we are questioning. This is honest.

I'm not looking for proof, just perhaps a piece of inspiration and yes guidence. As long as your dad is in your heart, he will always be with you. It makes sense to me in that way. I just feel there has to be more to things than just this. Life is very mysterious, the universe is very mysterious. I question God because maybe in a way I feel there is more than just God. It's not easy to explain it.

I think there is more than God most certainly. Just look at the universe and look into ourselves. It is true, we can not find answers in our self by looking in a cold microscope but by being aware of our spirituality. Like our heart we can choose to ignore it, train it to be cold. I think asking questions is a good way to find out. Show me God, please show me is a very short petition but one that can bring an answer to the person that asks.

Here are my beliefs. I believe in some kind of a supernatural force. But I don't believe we, humans can get to know it, how it works. I think it his less impact and control on our lives, fates, decisions than the gods of different religions, and I do believe that to a really large extent, we control our own lives, and how we end up depends mostly on our decisions and actions. I don't believe in afterlife (but reincarnation would be effing cool :D), I don't believe in life as a journey to something more eloquent. I don't believe in it as a person or personified thing, but more of a... if I had to compare my beliefs to something we know, then I would compare it to a physical or chemical force.

I believe in God! But how, why, when? It is not us to answer that because God is in our hearts. To believe in God is to pause for a while and try to listen into our hearts. The fact that you ask that question means that their is that innermost existence that you try to avoid by focusing on earths pleasure or offer. Just listen within you, God is everywhere, it is not a coincidence. I am happy that you took the extra step to ask, that means that your innermost being is already preparing for His guidance and love. Welcome to the fold. We love you.

Thank you nita! I guess in a way you may be right, I mean I know SOMETHING is there, but at the same time I often wonder if it's my imagination. I've experienced things in my life that I cannot explain, and lately things people say have been things that everyone thinks at the same time. For example, my father, who I have not seen in 19 years asked me when I would be visiting. The next day my mother asked me over the phone when I'd be visiting my dad and then later that day my mother-in-law asked me the same thing. Now my dad does not talk to them so I had to wonder if something or somehow the message got across in another way. This is what made me wonder, and other things.

Yes, such a question has been asked million-trillion times, yet the relevance of the topic is not lost. In fact, with progress in scientific knowledge, especially after exploring the sub-atomic world, existence of an omni-potent energy or power is slowly getting acceptance among scientific fraternity too. As far as I am concerned, I do believe in existence of an energy that governs the whole universe. Call it God or something else - no matter to me, I believe that all things happening in the universe is occurring under the influence of that great power and I feel myself lucky to realize such existence.
