Your Experience in Buying or Shopping Online

Philippines

Hi friends and mylotters! I have this virtual card I got from one of my online paying site where I earn money from my photos and it says I can use it to buy anything online. My only experience in buying online is from Metrodeal,a site where you are being issued a voucher and this voucher will be shown to the store where you are going to avail the product or services. I haven't experienced any shopping online like they will deliver the goods at your place. Can you please share with me your experience in buying online? And what site is it that you use? Would love to spend my earnings in my virtual card but afraid I might spend it in the wrong site. Hope you guys can help me out here. And if you're from my country,Philippines, what's the best site to buy online?

I am afraid I do not know what might be the best and safe online site to buy from in your country. But in my country, there are many well established sites from where I have purchased goods. Also I think ebay as many have suggested is also a very good site which is known at a global level. So shopping there should be safe though I haven't shopped there.

Hi nikhil_sun! Yes,ebay is a reliable site in our country, based on my fellowmen friends here in mylot. I just checked the site this afternoon and sad to say, most mode of payment they accept is through paypal and credit card. But I haven't really explore the site yet. Since my virtual card is also considered as a Visa card,I think I might find something that I can buy in the site.

I know that EBAY is a good place to purchase things online. I really like how you can look at the sellers reputation with past transactions, it gives you a lot more confidence in who you're dealing with and the quality of what you are purchasing. Good luck.

3 days reservation? I think it applies on vacation packages, right friend? As with the diamond peel service, you need 1 day reservation before going to their outlet.

Hi my dear friend! It's my first time to hear about ensogo and lazada. I've been seeing zalora from sites like expertscolumn but I find their clothes quite expensive, hehe! I've tried purchasing in metrodeal and so far I did not encounter any problems yet. I still have a voucher here that I haven't availed yet,it's a diamond peel service, haha! Maybe I will use it next month when hubby arrives.

Hi nay! :) I do shop online. It is very easy and fun thing to do. Well, real shopping is still fun. I have been receiving a lot of my online purchases in my door for 2 years now. Hehehe! :) Well, for my gadgets I always look around at eBay.com.ph and I also look for some cosmetic products there. But, I do have a "suki" online shop for my cosmetic needs, so I barely shop cosmetics on eBay. Well, one thing I like about eBay is that some of their sellers do accept PayPal payments too and that is an advantage in my side. I do purchase some dress online too, nay. Mostly are from Facebook. They don't accept PayPal payments but they accept GCash or SmartMoney payments. Oh, when you use credit card or debit card upon online shopping nay.. you should really be extra careful because we can't trust anyone or any store in that.. Just for example, Ate Mach bought an iPad online, I just don't know what site did she bought it but she got scammed. She didn't get her item and they took her money which is really sad. I guess it cost around Php20,000 or more. You can reach me anytime nay, so I can direct you to some reliable online stores! :)

Hello bunso! I know you are one of those I can ask about shopping online, lol! Yeah,I've heard about what happened to our friend Mach and it's really a bad experience. I just hope I wont get into scams like that, waaa!!! I easily trust people and I'm afraid to be involved in such scams,oh my! That's why I started this discussion to know some experiences of friends and mylotters. Bunso, can I buy some groceries online like diapers or some stuffs for my kids? I wanted to use my earnings in my virtual card for that. Any site for groceries? Any tips?

Hi- MTR- I thought any Visa outlet would do fine but if want to buy stuff online this would be better to use this card at ebay or allowed sites by that particular card company. I hope they are providing a list of sites where you can go shop from this card. Better still if you contact lady admin who is incharge of support also post a message on her profile. She always is helpful and then Mr. Bill is there who is always ready to help.

Hi suny friend! How are you? Yes,any Visa outlet will do for my virtual card but to tell you honestly my friend,I haven't done any research on to what sites like ebay does accept my virtual card, lol! I'm not sure if entropay provides some sites where I can use it,will go check for it if I have time. sometimes reading there homepage makes my eyes tired, lol! I don't know why I am too lazy reading some information on new sites like that, haha! I feel I'm gonna have a migraine if I will explore on reading those, haha! Good thing there is mylot,it's fun to read my friend's opinions on my discussions. I haven't tried contacting lady admin and Mr.Bill. Some friends from RG told me that the support are not answering their queries especially with regards to their on and off network. These past few days RG has been having some difficulties and uploading photos, that's the reason why until now I don;t have new photos yet uploaded.

hi! for local travel services, i've only experienced booking and buying online tickets from pal and cebu pacific. promo deals are a great way to save on travel costs plus you get to plan ahead. as for merchandise and other services, i've only used metrodeal, ensogo and dealspot. some deals have free shipping costs, while some have add ons. just check the deals first before buying and compare prices... if you really save on the deals as claimed. for food and restaurant deals and even most merchandise, go for the brand or establishment that you already know... so that you already know what to expect in terms of the products and services. this avoids disappointment in case your expectations were high. for me the best online deals i've had was cebu pacific. we were able to travel at a fraction of the cost from other airlines. you just need to plan ahead and monitor the deals. i'm just not sure how virtual card works. if it's good for carriers too. good luck! happy spending.

Hi myles! I wish to avail of some local tours online but traveling is not yet my priority,no budget yet for traveling, huhu! Some friends also told me about Cebu Pacific airlines 'cause one time we had plans in getting a vacation package but then it was not pushed through due to some things we need to consider first before having a vacation. But if ever we already have a budget for it,I will for sure check out Cebu Pacific,I just hope they accept virtual cards. Anyway,it is also considered as a Visa card.

I am from China. I often go shopping online and I love it since the price is usually better. I like to compare to different sellers. I will read the feedbacks from other buyers and it can make me judge who is a better seller. A seller who has a good fame is usually reliable. And this is why I don't mind spend a little extra money to buy from this buyer. I love China

Well I live in Puerto Rico and have lived in the States most of my life. I have been buying online for years now with no problems. I usually go to amazon.com to find what I'm looking for. I would also go to the websites of the stores you like where you can purchase something online and it will be mailed to your home. Its very easy to do you just need to know what you want to buy and do your research to get it for the best price. Good luck!

That's a good question actually because I too have not had much experience with buying on-line. I do many things on the internet but am more like an old man when it comes to shopping. lol I have however purchased from ebay and have had good service there and maybe a few other sites but not much at all. My 3% of experience on this matter however has had a success rating of 100% if that helps:)

Hi musicscout! Well,it does help, haha! The percentage you gave made me feel comfortable in buying online. So far, from this discussion of mine, only one experienced a bad thing. To sum up,buying online is reliable,we just need to be careful what site are we going to use. Most repliers said ebay is good! That's the site I'm going to use.

hi mtrguanlao. yes, i've shopped online in this social shopping sites. i'm a member in a number of these sites including metrodeal and groupon. i've bought a voucher for 'kinder zoo' and a pair of snore stoppers for my folks. lol! the snore stoppers were delivered here in my house and although, it said in the site that delivery is free, i was still charged a delivery fee. anyway, i've started a couple of discussions about my online shopping experience. here are the links, http://www.mylot.com/w/discussions/2672673.aspx and http://www.mylot.com/w/discussions/2657147.aspx. hopefully, you learn something from my experiences and insights as well as from other mylotters who have tried online shopping sites as well. currently, i'm still receiving the offers of these sites but haven't purchased anything recently. from my limited experience, here are a couple of pointers that will be useful when dealing with these sites: *make sure to read the terms and conditions of the products or services that you are buying/availing of. take note of warranty services, expiry dates, exclusions, and even the fine prints of these deals *be wary and look out for deals that would only materialize after a certain amount of purchases are bought. this is what happened to my father's day shirt purchase. there weren't enough buyers of the deal and bad thing about it was that i paid using my credit card so the amount was charged to me already when the deal was subsequently cancelled. i had to call and email the site to have it sorted out. the amount was credited to my account with the site but it got messy. *don't purchase a deal, service, or product just because it is on sale. self-explanatory here. anyway, hope these pointers help you out. as for the sites, there are a lot available. there's metrodeal, groupon, dealstent, cashcashpinoy, dealamigos, buyanihan among others. cheers and happy mylotting!!!

Hi allen! I've read your discussion about purchasing in metrodeal. I too have purchased some services and some other deals like buy 1 take 1 pizza in Fat Boy's Pizza and I was able to avail it already and I'm happy with it. I've also purchased the diamond peel service but until now I haven't used the voucher yet but it's fine 'cause the expiration of the voucher is until October this year, I plan to use it by next month. I plan to avail their vacation packages but afraid to do so as I've heard from the news that most customers were not able to use their vouchers because of some technical problems. Have you tried buying a vacation package from metrodeal? "don't purchase a deal, service, or product just because it is on sale"..I know all of the metrodeal's services or products are on sale, quite confused with what you have said here. So far, from the sites you've mentioned,it is only metrodeal that I've tried purchasing. Is groupon okay allen? And by the way, have you tried buying some groceries online? Since I have earnings in my virtual card,I wish to use it in buying some groceries or kid's stuffs. Thank you for all the tips you said, noted those.

I love buying things from the internet, because it is often a lot cheaper than it is in the shops, and also you can get it delivered to you which means that it is very easy as well. I live in a small village which has poor transport links. It would cost me £6.40 if I wanted to go to the shops in the nearest town, and that means that shopping is something that I couldn't afford to do all that often as it would just cost me far too much in the long term. The internet means that people who couldn't have done certain things in the past are able to do so now.

Wow,so shopping online is a very big advantage to all of you in your village. Good thing you have an internet access at your place. Sometimes small villages like that in our country usually doesn't have an internet access. I agree with you that there are some products or services that are far more cheaper online than in the malls. I just don't get why is it like that, hehe!
