Today I did a humiliating thing

It is very hot in my city today. At noon, I went into an resteraunt and ordered something to eat. When I was eating, I was engaged in thinking my job. Then I finished eating,my brain was full of my job.I stood up and walked out of the resteraunt, without paying for my meal. Then a waitress came out and called after me. I turned around and remembered that I hadn't paid my bill. I felt so embarassed. I said sorry and gave the money to the waitress. Have you ever had this kind of experience? Or what's the most embarassing thing you have ever experienced?

Yes sometimes when the mind is so full of stress or job things it can do one in and actually make you forget alot of things, even something like paying in a restaurant. I am glad they didn't think you were trying to rip them off on purpose, they were good about it at least, but I can see why you might have been embarassed. I have not been in that situation before but probably would have been also. It happens though, so don't worry. There are worse things to be embarassed about. I have just been through many this month, in fact at the hospital. :P

One time I completely forgot to pay my fare in a local public transportation. I was also preoccupied with something like you. Thankfully, I wasn't called or approached regarding my payment or anything. I just got off at my stop without a word. I did feel about it later. There are some people who purposely do not pay fares because in the local Philippine jeepney, all passengers should have the initiative to pay their fares without being asked. One embarrassing thing I remember doing because of being preoccupied with my thoughs was the time when I went to a convenience store. I bought a coupe of things. paid for my purchases, then walked out of the store with nothing! I left the package at the counter and I guess the cashier was also quite stunned that she didn't call me back. I did come back for my package a little later and was able to get all of the things I paid for. A couple of times I also missed my bus stop because I was looking out the window of a moving bus without really seeing anything because I was lost in my thoughts. It's really very important to focus. :-)

im sorry for it im sure you felt so embarassed. that never happened to me but embarassing things happen to me all the time^^ one of the most embarassing things was when i went to a shoes store and i said excuse me to a woman and she wasnt getting away. i said excuse me again and she didnt move. so i tried to pass and a lot of shoes boxes fell on the ground. i started to catch the boxes along with the employer that was telling me oh its ok dont worry i catch it but i was feeling so bad i wanted to help but he insisted its ok dont worry, like saying, please go because you already did enough. i was feeling so embarassed. and all because that woman! in the end of the day i was the one getting embarassed and the woman was ok. so unfair the world is sometimes.

Hi Arielqiao, It is an embarrassing situation. Yes it had happens with me too. It really feels so bad that to eat and simply walk out. It feels like the person don't have money to pay or don't want to pay. But the thing is in today's fast running time it happens with lot of people. People have money to pay but his mind plunged in such deep thoughts about other things that he forget everything. Sometimes I saw situation when people had food at restaurants but due to mentally absent he said he was hungry and don't remember he had food.

Its probably worse if n-one calls you back and you remember at some later time .Its difficult to know what to do in the circumstance lol do you go and force money on someone or avoid the place in cse they remember you I would probably go and pay....I even give money back when people give me change for the wrong notes, unfortunately it doesnt always work the other way round

Aww that would be pretty embarrasing. As far as I can remember I dont recall ever having this happen to me. I do tend to get distracted easily and have similar emarrassing things happen though. One time I was at a party and pooped and then saw tgere was no toilet paper. I had to pull my pants up and search in a cupboard outside the bathroom and find some and go back in and wipe off. It was emarrasding because a guy was waiting in the living room for me to come out and he had to wait along time. Im sure it smelled terrible in there aftwr and because I was in there so long he would know it was me so I couldnt say it was like that before I went in lol

hi ariel I did the same thing only the waitresses all knew me as I worked in the library and often came in to eat at spires restaurant.so they asked me to pay the bill I walked out on. but what made me curious was I thought I had laid the bill and the money on the counter as there were four people ahead of me. I to this day think one of those four took my money so the cashier never got it.So I paid and they were all so kind and sweet about it.but I was totally embarrassed as I would not knowingly do such a thing.

That is truly embarrassing. The waitress probably thought you were trying to get away, It's a good thing you apologized. Don't feel too bad though, it is only human to make errors. It could happen to anyone.
