I was working here at the office when i got a text message from my nanny.. she said that she saw a ball stuck in my son's left nostril! I was like what?? how did that happen, without hesitation, i feel like flying home. Without further hesitation i got up and told my supervisor the emergency. I got up and was home within minutes and boy i tell you it was like eternity in that tricycle. i feel like the driver was driving toooooooooooooooo slow! I got home and saw this little golden ball, its diameter is a bit small than the eraser tip of a pencil.. and i could imagine it was causing my son a bit discomfort but glad he was not crying and can still breath. GOod thing too my cousin, a nurse from Saudi was there at home visiting. She was looking after him and tried to remove it but she does not have the means for it. So i decided to bring my son to the nearest hospital just 10 minute drive.. so yes i took him there and another blessing the nurse is my former classmate in high school and helped me..and the doctors helped out too, they removed the small ball.... and i thought it was over. But no, my son was fussing and crying over the strangers in white holding him that he kept crying, the doctor was able to remove it but the ball slipped and fell into his mouth and he swallowed it!! they tried inducing it, but the doctor assured me that it can just be poopped...and will eventually got out as it was very very small. i hope so as i am worried right now. it was over less than hour but i am really still worried and praying he will poop it out. I just called hubby and told him what i have done and what went through as it is better he knows it right away...glad he isn't mad about it. phew. i really hope he will poop it out, you think it will just come out? as if it wont, i will be bringing him again to the e.r tomorrow and have him xrayed.

Oh oh! I guess most of the children experience such things once during the period between infancy and childhood. I think when the doctor has assured you that the ball will come out you can just relax. Also, try to explain your son that such stuffs are only for playing and not for eating. I am sure he'll be careful from the next time.

I think the chances of your son pooping it out is very likely. I remember when I was kid, I usually swallow the seed of a tamarind. I think that's as big as the ball you've described. My mom had me eat foods that help me poop like leafy vegetables and raisins. (My mom had a penchant of pretending to be a doctor . But it helped though. I'm not prescribing things here. Ask your cousin first

oh so hopefully he will poop it out as it is a bit smaller than a tamarind seed.. i am soooooooooo scared my friend. Its like i want to hyperventilate lol but i was trying to keep my cool and not cry! I will definitely give him a lot more fluid and veggies later.

I'd probably feel the same way if that had happened to my son. By the way, isn't the doctor liable for something? It's probably accidental but still, it caused further inconvenience to both your child and you.

that got me thinking too, that must be why they did not let me pay and they told me to bring him back tomorrow if i see any discomfort and changes in my son.. but i am still positive he will poop it out.

I would have been so scared if I was you too. I am very glad that your son is fine now. I've always worried something like this would happen to one of my kids since I've heard it happening so often but thankfully they dont put anything up their nose except their finger. You can rest assured that your son will surely poop the ball out. Try to relax because I know what a wreck I would be in your shoes.

Yes, it will go through his system and come out eventually, I'd say within a day or two so give it time. However, that's really messed up the doctor dropped it in his mouth! But there again, accidents do happen and fortunetly, your son will be ok.

I had that scare too when my son got a burn accident months ago. I broke down and almost lose my sanity. I really thankful that aside from the burns and the wounds, nothing serious had happened to my son. It just broke my heart to see my son crying because of pain. He's too young for this. I almost want to quit my job because of that. I ask God to give me more strength. He is very good that He save our son from further injuries. Our children can make our world upside down. They can make us super happy and they can make us so desperate.

How old is your son? Really I am just curious. No matter what his age he will pass it in his poop. It is small and round and smooth. No danger of poking him or anything. My son swallowed a penny at about 18 months. I did not know it, he just had had a cranky day all day. At that time I used cloth diapers and would drop the poop in the toilet, and was really amazed to find a penny in the poop he dropped. I am sure that was a bit scary for you, though.

He is 2 years old..so i really believe he does not know what he was doing.. and he was not even cranky..he was just there sitting, quiet at home and staring at my cousin and the nanny as they were fussing around him! He cried when i took him to the E.R and had it removed..as he might have been frightened from the doctors and nurses he does not know. It was that scary for me, and i was really praying that it will be alright.

Kids do a lot of things. You should blame your nanny for not looking out for your kid. You should fire her and look for a more diligent one to replace her.

um, nope. i am not going to blame her and i saw the fear in her eyes when i arrive and i know she was not negligent, accidents happen and i know somehow she was looking after my son and my son is fond of doing a lot of things, she might have overlooked and did not see he was holding a ball.. she even said sorry for it.. she needs the work as much as i need her too.
