What time should I call?

I'm suppose to call the store today to see if I got the job; I had the interview Thursday and she told me to call today. They open at 9am, and I don't want to call the minute they walk in the door. But I have to work both jobs today so I won't have much free time. I just find it weird that I have to call usually jobs I've applied to in the past called you.

I called just after 930 just so it doesnt pick up and shes not rushed. She is still on the fence, I don;t think I got the job. She keeps bringing up the number of jobs I have, and how she has an interview Wednesday, then will call my references. I just feel I;m being pushed to the back, and shes trying to find someone else.

It's hard to balance when to call isnt it. I always sit there desperatly WANTING to call the minute they open, but not wanting to seem desperate. I usually wait until 30 - 45 minutes after they open. I hope you get the job, good luck!

Yes, that how I see it, I want to call to know, but don;t want to seem desperate. I called about 950am and they open at 9am. She didnt give me a clear answer, she just said she has an interview Wednesday then call my references. I just feel as if Im being pushed to the back burner.

I've had plenty of jobs where I've had to call. Usually I called about thirty minutes after they opened, or ask them when the best time to call back would be. This way they know I'm interested but also interested in not calling back at an inconvenient time. I saw you already called back though. In the future, thirty minutes to an hour after they open, depending on how busy they get.

When you are trying to get a new job, it is important to show the person that you are applying with that you really are interested in the job that you have applied for. However, you also really don't want to look like you are overly anxious about the job. So, taking those two things into consideration, I would personally say that the best time to call and follow-up about a job which you've already had the interview for would be a couple hours after the place that you have applied to has opened.

You may start calling them about 15 minutes after opening hours. It will show them that you are really interested in the job you applied for. Who knows? It might be a busy store that once they open up, clients start building up and they might not have enough chance to attend to phone calls. Also, since you said you will also be busy, you might as well call them at your convenient time so you don't forget. Calling them early will also ease your worries and relieve you of that burden thinking if you're hired or not. This might even affect your performance at your other job and cause you more trouble. Don't worry too much. Just be ready to accept whatever decision they make. If you get the job, CONGRATULATIONS!!! If not, think positively, things happen for a reason, a better job might be waiting for you 'ey? God bless and good luck! =)
