Do you like a movie with dubbing?

Some foreign movies with the original dialogues so that they need to offer the subtitle so that others can understand it. Some foreign movies with the dubbing so that everybody can understand it without subtitle. Which do you like? I prefer to watch the original foreign movie with the subtitle. Sometimes I think it is worse to have the dubbing.

Hi youless, I enjoy watching movies with original dialogues. It doesn't matter with either Mandarin or English subtitles, as long as I can understand what the dialogues are. Really, it's weird to watch foreign movies with dubbing. From some dubbed films I had watched before same voices would be heard again and again even the films were acted by different film starts. may be dubbed films or movies are specially for those who dislike or unable to read subtitle I suppose Happy posting

Hi juhrina029, I'm addicted to korean tv movies these days. I can't help watching it almost daily off and on while working on the screen. Certainly english subtitle plays an important role in this. If not I won't find any interest watching them. I had just finished watching I Do I Do yesterday I'm going to watch Dr Jin. Not starting yet. Come on youless, I'm a Malaysian Chinese and I love Chinese since young. Therefore there isn't difficulty for me to speak and write Chinese. Even though I still like to watch Chinese movies with Chinese subtitle

Ahm..,it actually depends on the movie. I prefer watching with subtitles but except for korean movies or drama. I just pretty much love the way Filipino dubbers dub them. It's you know, like, as if they are the ones speaking.

I guess it depends on the kind of movie. But I prefer a dubbed one instead of a subbed one. I will be taking time reading the sub titles and pay no attention to the actual film, so if it is dubbed, I can both enjoy what's going on in the movie as well as understand their dialogues.

Well, yeah, that's just my pet peeve for dubbed movies or programs. The lip movements and the words not matching is quite disturbing.

I think it would be great if there were an option on the dvd for subtitles or dubbed. I'd watch both. I think the first time around I'd watch it with the subtitles to get the original affect, but the next time dubbed so I could pay more attention to the film.

I can appreciate dubbing. If I am watching a movie and there is a language barrier, I like to understand what is going on. It is a good idea to have dubbing to allow a movie to reach a wider audience. I have to be able to comprehend the development of the plot. I am thankful for dubbing in a language I can understand, and I appreciate the dubbers.

If I have to watch a dubbed movie, it must come from the professional dubbers.

I would say that would be quite preferable.

I agree with you ! I like watching anime and korean films. It doesn`t really work for me if it is dubbed. Sometimes dubbing can spoil emotions and expression of a certain film. Subtitle is much more better. You just have to read it fast though and sometimes you were actually reading than watching it. But it is fine with me that way i guess

Yeah you should try one. It is unique and cute in their own way. Like thet have their charm that can only be seen in their own films. Japanese are more on horror, action and Love story almost the same as american films. Korean are more like comedy, Love story and has a unique twist also. I love them all really sine i love to spend all day with my television and a popcorn with apple cider

Youless, i like watching foreign movies because some of them are very interesting. Besides that, i am able to learn a lot about foreign cultures and languages, too. Even i likes to watch those beautiful scenery in the movies. In fact, i like those foreign movies to have a dubbing, so easy for me to understand them. But pity to say, some of the dubbing sometimes don't give accurate meaning. It makes me laugh when the dubbing sounds like nonsense. I prefer to watch foreign movie with a subtitle which i think is much better and makes the movie more interesting.

yes..that is a much much better way..or should i say the best !! way..because the audience can hear and sense the seriousness..love..emotions of the actor in their original voice... the dubbed version usually done by not so good voiceover actor..something can lessen the actual emotional content intended to be convey to movie goers..

I am sure there are some wonderful movies to be seen that hav dubbing. i find that i spend more time reading the subtitles than being involved in the plot of the movie , There is something to be said for sound and woeds coming together.

Show me a dubbed movie and I sure as hell wont watch it. Its just it irks me so much to see tv shows and some movies dubbed, like actors voices are changed, its so irritating to watch a movie and know the actor isnt even speaking and wondering what they may sound like etc. because somehow for me actors voices add up to movie or tv show too. In a way sometimes there are moments when original actor will deliver a sentence way better an more emotional than a dubbed person will. Its all about personal preferrence though but wffor me they're an absolute no. Subtitles or I don't watch it at all.

Yes, watching foreign movie with a subtitle is interesting. Besides that, we have the chance to learn another new language as well. That's how i learn Chinese in the beginning.

I like subtitles too! Especially in Japanese and French movies, I love hearing their accents so much. I don't mind reading the subtitles, I can still concentrate on the movie Sometimes dubbing takes away the real emotion of the characters. That's how I feel about it

Japanese love stories are also good however they often end tragically. If you like watching happy endings in love stories, Japanese would not be a good choice

I feel like distracted with a dubbing movie lines as transcribed in subtitle. But, I tend to watch movies with subtitle, to see the real dialogues done by actors. Since some scenes can not be audible to hear, especially with a special effects.

Well I prefer subtitles than dubbing. I hate it when the dubber's voice is inappropriate with the personality of the actor. There are also times when the actors mumble their words--subtitles help in this case.

In my country very few movies are dubbed. As far as I know it only happens if it is a movie for small children who haven't learned to read yet. If it is movie for adults they use subtitles instead. I am happy that subtitles are much more common than dubbed movies because I like to listen to the foreign languages and I don't have the chance to do that if the movie is dubbed. If it is English movie I don't read the subtitles, I just listen to the words. If it is Asian movie or a movie from another county where I don't understand the local language it is neccesary to read the subtitles. It is not a problem for me to read the subtitles and follow the story in the movie as well. My country uses subtitles all the time and it has become a habit to watch a movie and read the subtitles at the same time.

I preferred to watch foreign movies and tv series with subtitle than with dubbing. When I was working a tourist for Japanese and starting to learn their language I bought lots of japanese anime and movies with subtitle so that it easy for me to pronounce their words and easy for me to learn their language and familiarized their accent and actions while watching.

I like watching dubbed movies. English is not my mother tongue and I can't understand the dialogues from the hollywood movies. But I like to watch hollywood movies. So the the possible way for me is to watch dubbed movies. I also watch movies with subtitles. But if we are reading the subtitles then we can't concentrate on the movie.

Hi!!! I like to go to www.mysoju.com and watch korean dramas. They are usually subbed, so I'm used to subbing. I do have a problem with dubbing however. I watched the Toho Godzilla, his last 'retirement' film. As with all dubbing, they just never seem to match the environmental 'echo' around the voices with the environment in the film. I mean, if they are in the city, they sound like they are in a sound booth. If they are in a vehicle, they sound like they are in a sound booth. Just irritating. I do not like dubbing at all.
