Discussions with similar lines of thinking

Now when I checked my email I saw 4 notifications for deleted discussions where I participated. 3 of the notifications seemed normal to me, I kind of knew the topics will probably be deleted by the admin when Mylot start working fine again, but the 4th notification doesn't seem so right to me. I separate the discussions where I participate on two different parts. One of the type is theoretical type of discussion for me. I am participating to say what I would do. I don't have any experience in doing what I am writing for, so I only share my opinion what it would be if I was doing so, if this thing seems normal or not to me. The other type of discussions I participate because I have some experience for sharing. It makes the topic little personal to me, because I know this situation and I have something to say about it. The notification I got today for the deleted discussion is about discussion which I call theoretical. I usually avoid such questions and answers discussions, but sometimes, when I can't find a place to write all I write usually, I just answer questions. When I opened last night the deleted discussion I felt like I have answered the question already, but it didn't stop me to reply again. I wasn't sure if it happened before or not, so I joined. And today the discussion is deleted as I see. Does it mean that we always have to remember the topics we answered to. Many people may ask the same question but with different perspective, so does it mean if we answered once to one question, it would be more likely if we don't add comments on other discussion like that because it might be deleted? I am doing my best to avoid discussions which will be deleted. But it all depends on the perspective for me. Of course if the discussion is not connected with breaking any rule..

Sometimes a topic seems absolutely fone but it is deleted because it was a duplicate topic - meaning that the user posted it twice or had already posted something similar previously. We cannot be aware of every single discussion here so it could be that we were not aware of the previous one. Sometimes topics are plagiarised and are deleted for that reason while we see them as a new topic to discuss and have no idea that they are copied from somewhere else. Don't worry too much Suggar as we all receive notifications no matter how hard we try to avoid them.

Yep, that's exactly what I meant. The topic seemed fine with me. Thanks Diana

Since mylot is already here for 6-7 years, it's hard to determine whether the topic is a duplication particularly with the content. In the long run, you will learn to find out what topic/s seems to be deleted (you will likely to get the feeling of doubts-sounds like that)

I'm sorry about your problem. My discussion or my comment, there are also deleted. I tried to empathy in their position. They have rules and perceptions. They also must serve reports. I'll be more careful. Happy mylotting...

I am not having any problem with this deleted post. I just wonder how we may protect ourselves of such thing happening. I can't remember all the topics I replied to.

Hi, I had two notifications about my answer being deleted due to the original discussion being deleted. Honestly, I try to stay away from discussions I feel would be deleted as you have said, specially the poll type ones. But sometimes we cannot really judge whether it is a duplicate topic or a plagiarized one except through gut feelings(for plagiarized ones) or for having seen that topic being posted earlier(in case of duplicate topic). For me, one of the topics that got deleted was something dealing with how much one was earning from writing. Now, I have no idea why that topic would be deleted as apart from the original poster, the others who have responded would not be given a reason for the deletion. I really cannot go checking if every discussion is plagiarized or a duplicate topic! Moreover, I tend to respond to discussions in which I feel I have something to contribute or which catch my attention. I think deletions are a part of Mylotting anyway and may be I would continue to participate without thinking much except for obvious discussions I know that would be deleted.

When I referred to gut feelings about a discussion being plagiarized, I meant to say that after we feel so, we would check that through a search by copy and paste and avoid responding on that topic or warn others that the discussion has been plagiarized from some source.

It doesn't annoy me so much, but I imagine if I am here for another 3 years and continue writing. At one moment I will not know what kind of discussions I answered time ago ...

I must say that I am not a master in deciding if one discussion is a duplicate of another as I am also facing the same thing. I am sure no one can get away from this. No matter how hard I try to void me from posting comments in those discussions, if they will get deleted they will. So I just post to any discussion I want sis unless if I know that discussion will get deleted by the admin.(^^)

Well yeah I know if 2 people make the same discussion around the same time the one that was posted after will be deleted. It happened to me once. I posted a discussion and someone had just asked less than a minute. Mine started to get responses though and the earlier one hadn't but they still deleted mine even though I had responses I also try not to post on topics that will be deleted as it's just a waste of time but sometimes I will get a message saying one was deleted and I can't work out why so I don't dwell on it

I understand you and I know it's not cool. I was thinking to ask Mylot delete this discussion after I posted it, because I saw there was another discussion posted after mine with the similar line of thinking. But after I got some responses here, decided to not punish the people who already answered.
