Why Do They Have Scenes-AFTER-Ending-Credits? (like in "Thor")

I was going to start a discussion about 'possible sequels' to Thor (I haven't seen The Avengers yet), but its scenes-after-ending-credits show that any sequel-ideas will obviously have to be part of The Avengers (as it featured the same S.H.I.E.L.D.-worker as shown in CAPTAIN AMERICA, who will also be in The Avengers).
But the point is, why put things important to the story after the ending-credits?
And ... does Jane (Natalie Portman, I think) ever find her way to Thor?

If you are a die-hard movie fan, you stay through the credits, this is a reward for the die hard fans.
At the end of Aladdin 2 (I think) they had a prize, we get to find out what happened to one person who had disappeared in the final fight.

that end credit in THOR is for AVENGERZ...and since u have not seen Avengerz yet..the end credit for AVengerz is for THOR 2.. i wont reveal what is the end credit here..because dont wanna spoil it for ya..since u havent seen it.. ;)
and jane..mmm she was mentioned in Avengerz..but hey,,u gotta see it first..
and im guessing..either Thor hang out on Earth with jane..or jane follow thor back to his kingdom asgard via a portal gate obviously

yeah..im guessing Thor will be in Asgard fighting the Red Hulk..as u see in the end credit..of Avengerz..

It is to tease the fans and piss off the cinema staff! It also links all the movies together. I have not seen the Avengers yet but I have watched the scene after the credits! I try not to spoil things for myself but I could not help it. Big things are ahead of us my friend

also in the recent Fast and furios..the ones with the Rock"known as FAST FIVE.. end credit shows that theyre gonna chase after Michele Rodgrigues in the nex forthcoming instalment?

I think it's cool when movies put scenes at the end of credits. The thing that annoys me though is that you never know what movie is going to have that surprise scene. One time my mom actually told me about an app that told you when is the best time to go to the bathroom during a movie and which movies have scenes after the credits.
I think a lot of times these scenes go unnoticed because people leave the theater before it ends. Just recently I discovered that Breaking Dawn part 1 had a bonus scene after the credits. I saw it in theaters twice and both times I left before the credits. It's neat to have those scenes, I just want there to be a way to know which movie has them so I don't wait through the credits for nothing lol

Lol yeah there really is! My mom told me about it because she heard it from a friend. I can't remember what the app is called but it does exist!

Maybe it's just a technique to make some people go back to the cinema to see what they miss the first time. Btw what happen in Thor's after-credit scene? i happen to be the one who missed it LOL..

... I don't remember, but I just remember who was there: that black guy with the eyepatch, I think that Natalie-Portman-science-girl's father, and Loki ... and it was in that 'Area 54'-X FILES place (i.e. where they warehouse alien technology) ...
