Hi Dasie.. Ive heard of Extracorporeal Shock Wave Lithotripsy for removal of kidney & gallstones, but it is the first time ive heard of electro shock therapy. Reading it today, it says that this has been a non-invasive way to cure plantar fascitis and other muskuloskeletal diseases. However so, some clinicians are still cynical about it. Ive also read that it comes in 6 sessions. Do you feel that it is working for you?

Well, sometimes the scariest option works out. I often thought about that, but thankfully medication and counseling were enough. But you do what you have to do. And I admire you for being brave enough to try it. My great-grandmother had it, although it was more common back in her day. She emerged just fine. Do you know who Carrie Fisher is? She played Princess Leia in Star Wars. She talks openly about having done it. She says it worked for her, but she did lose bits and pieces of her memory. Nothing that disrupted her life, but still. I wish you luck.

I haven't tried electro shock therapy, but I have a friend who has tried it and she has mixed feelings about it. I did help her, but at the same time she got serious memory problems afterwards. They say that the memory problems are a temporary thing, but in my friend's case the problems were more serious and she still suffers from those problems today and she also finds it harder to learn new things. I think that you should look for information about the treatment and the side effects and read it carefully before you make a decision. Personally I would wouldn't do it, it is true that it helps some people, but the side effects can be severe.

What do you mean ECT (electroconvulsive therapy)? Info I have read, ECT is a last resort, to be used as a treatment of major depression who had not responded to other treatments. Not have lasting benefits, and there is great risk of memory loss.

Can you explain more which electro shock therapy that you meant? I ever heard electro shock therapy for a mental disorded patient, but it had been stopped so long ago. Electro shock therapy , first time I read your disscusion something crossed in my mind. It is like a tool in the hospital that give you a shock when you are unconcious to help a your heart works normally again. And the other thing is my experience when I did "Akupuntur" , a traditional medication that stabbing you by a very tiny electricity needle, but it didn't shock me at all.. So, which electro shock therapy did you mean? And what for ?

Why don't you talk to an expert before taking such a step... I've been into depression for years now... But the shock therapy is the last thing I would want... Take care friend... Check with an expert please...

dasiejanie so y ou want to be almost a zombie as thats what happenes to many with that electro shock therapy. they are changed people who are just existing not really living. no dont take that step as they never tell you how many were changed so much they were almost zombie like. stick to less violent methods. cure depression not change a person into a thoughtless mindless creature. the side effects are too great and too risky .I would never risk my brain to that type of treatment at all..

I am hearing for the first time about this therapy. normally patients are prescribed sedatives to slower down their mind. One way can be to pray to God and leave all the problems to Him so that depression will go away. or take to mylotting vigorously and forget depression.

I am not sure, but with this kind of treatment regimen applies with mental illnesses. I had seen it in movies, but in real life not yet. Most of the cases, I've seen them took only medications.

I understand the want to find a cure, to feel happy, but try not to make any rash decisions. Make sure to look into all of it, what it does and the side effects it can cause. I do hope you find something that helps but please be careful.
