I am in a rut. I need to find some new music and bands and songs to listen to. I am getting somewhat sick of my *favorite* bands and favorite songs just because I listen to them over and over again. I tend to listen to music ALL THE TIME! So I am asking you, MyLotters, for suggestions. But here's the catch - I have specific genres and bands I like. For example, I generally DO NOT LIKE rap or country as a general rule. I also don't really like Top 40 (like the Katy Perry/Rihanna/Lady Gaga/"hit radio" music - I Find most of it annoying). Techno/Dance is also not something I am a fan of. I mainly listen to rock. Here are some of my favorite bands: AVENGED SEVENFOLD (my ultimate favorite!), Metallica, Megadeth, Audioslave, Soundgarden, the Black Keys, Rise Against, Foo Fighters, Blue Oyster Cult, Cake, Cage the Elephant, Collective Soul, Cracker, Eric Clapton, Five Finger Death Punch, Halestorm, Incubus, No Doubt, Time Again, Rancid (more punk), Puddle of Mudd, Nirvana, Seether, SRV, Sublime, the Offspring, the Transplants, theory of a dead man, and so so so many more... Now, with that in mind, what songs or artists that are somewhat similar to any of those that you can think of, that I should possibly start listening to? A name or two (or five) of a song that is good by them is helpful as well. THANK YOU!

Try Gary Numan, looking at your list I would say try the Pure album first,a very heavy dark album with my favorite track being " a prayer for the unborn" or you could try and track down the first album tubeway army or "the plan" a collection of punk songs he did in the 70`s to get a record deal.Alot of modern artist now credit Numan with being an influence(Nine inch nails, foo fighters for example who have both done covers of his songs)

If your getting bored of listening to the bigger bands, why not attend local gigs and support your local music scene. They often give out free demos which means you dont have to pay for new music and you know for a fact you wont have ever heard it. In terms of bigger bands, I'm a big Green Day, Blink 182 fan. But a good smaller band that are very good is Allister I reccomend them hugely.

Bryan Adams (Rock) - jolly & energizing music Nickelback (Rock) - Thought evoking music with nice songs and lyrics Theory of a Deadman (Rock) - Strong songs with some really good lyrics Three Doors Down (Rock) - Overall awesome songs. There are the artists I listen to on a daily basis. I also suggest that you might try listening to John Mayer as I like his songs as well, especially yhe album named 'Battle Studios'. bourne :)

Not familiar with all the bands you mentioned so I'm not sure how close this will be to your tastes, but since you said rock, here's a suggestion: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dGyE4PsjIfs No vocals.
