Why do they all have glass lids

I have been looking for a pot set, I am saving up my amaszon gift cards, and have been thinking of putting my online earnings towards it as well. I found a set for $165.00 (Canadian and free shipping), kitchenaid, and 11 piece. Except they have glass lids. I know for me I would break them, and perfer just regular stainless steal. I went to the store to look, as I would then just use my online earnings but they all had glass lids.

I think most of them do have glass lids and I prefer the glass over anything else honestly. I am accident prone and clumsy too, I've dropped the glass ones before but atleast the set we have doesn't seem to break, they are very sturdy. Keep looking you may find some without the glass lids.

I could picture me just buying them, getting them out of the box, then dropping them. My parents old set doesnt have glass lids, and I use them as I drop everything, but their new one has glass lids. Ill have to keep looking, and hopefully find them.

I agree, I suggest you look for Revere ware http://www.shopworldkitchen.com/revere/copper-clad-cookware-set-1042262 the current "fad" are those glass lids, so try to find stuff more traditional

Oh I know, I would break the glass lids, and found a few without glass lids. I am saving up my online earnings, and my Amazon earnings to buy household items. But its hard when they dont have the items.

The manufacturers are probably working from the premise that people want to see what is going on inside the pot during cooking, and a glass lid cuts down the "need to lift the lid to see what's inside" factor, keeping the steam inside, and reducing the chance of you getting scalded by steam when inadvertently taking a peek..the glass they use, while not indestructable, would be toughened and heat safe..it takes major clumsy to break one of them..I've never managed it,and My grandmother had a glass Pyrex type POT! Professional grade cookware would have metal lids,though...good luck finding the ones that you want!

They make the glass lids cause some people like to see what they are cooking on the top of the pot, I was admiring them myself. But you're right they will probably break easier. I wouldn't want that. I do think they are different and prettier, possibly more useful. The only thing I would suggest is to look at garage sales, but you won't get a complete set either that way until you look for a long time. Sometimes they want to charge too much as well. Good luck with it.

I get frustrated with these as well. Apparently, it's the new 'it' nowadays. I hate it, the ones I bought a couple of months ago are without lids because all of them are broken. And they didn't come cheap that's why I was so disappointed. My mom told me to check the flea market near us, and I was able to score stainless steel ones. They're a lot cheaper and so much better to use.
