jackfruit - Yummy!

This Morning one of my cousin from my hometown visit and gave me a big ripe jackfruit because she knew that my husband and I like it. But the problem is were only two here in the house now and we can not finish all of it, so I called my mother and asked her what the best thing to do. She told me to cook it and make a jackfruit jam which can last for many days or even a month. After talking to her I started to remove the meat of the jackfruit, boiled it with water and brown sugar until done, it is very tasty, little bit sweet and sticky. Now we have 2 bottles of jackfruit jam which I can fridge and I can mix it to some snacks and sandwich that I am going to make this coming week. Have you try to make your own fruit jam? What kind of jam do you make? Please share with us. Thank you for sharing!

I have 4 jack fruit trees and get countless jack fruits. Making jam is indeed a good idea and I will certainly try out. Good suggestion!

I get plenty of jack fruits each year. - jack fruits can be used in various dishes.
My gardeners try and market the produce but there is not much demand for them here for the simple reason the younger generation will not take the trouble to cut it and so on!After using it in various dishes,we give them away to neighbours and friends. The rest are used as compost.

Hi allknowing, wow you have lots of jack fruit trees, now I can imagine how many jackfruit fruit you have during harvesting time. We have only two jack fruit trees in my hometown but my mom used to cook the unripe jackfruit with coconut milk, ginger, pork and chili, it is very delicious. Thank you for sharing. Have a great day! Hello thewonderderboy, i never try to make curry from jackfruit but it sounds interesting. I will try to make it when I go back to my hometown. Making jackfruit jam is very easy you just need to puree the meat and boil with sugar and little water until done.

I didn't have chance to taste the jam, but I did taste the chips. It was yummy jackfruit chips. I bought one bag jackfruits chips few weeks ago when I saw them in the minimart bit expensive, but it's worth the price

I bet it will taste great. I have never tasted jackfruit but hopefully one day I will. I enjoy preserving various fruits into jams and jelly to remind us on those cold winter days what if felt like in the summer! I have made strawberry, grape, apple, blueberry pie filling. I like to try new recipes so I think I will do that this winter.

Bhebe, when i was young my mother used to make own fruit jam. At that time, my mother planted lot of fruit trees. So, my mother would pluck them and make fruit jam. My mother ever make papaya, pineapple, mango and even jackfruit jam. They are very delicious and can last for a month if put in refrigerator. As for myself, i haven't tried making any type of jam yet. Maybe next week, i would give it a try when i have the chance to visit the wet market at the fruit section. i think buying fruit from there would be much cheaper than buying from the supermarket.

well, I love guava jam, that's why i really don't fail to search it in the net on how to make it. Though, guavas are also seasonal fruits, I usually make it a point to make my favorite guava jam everytime guavas come in season. It's the same procedure like you did but I just simply mashed the guavas before cooking them. I usually share it with my family and friens and they too love it. My 2 bottles of it wouldn't even last for a month since almost all my siblings loves eating it.

I like jackfruit, but only when it's fresh. I don't like it when it's a jam because it makes me gag. My mom used to cook jack fruit jam all the time, because we had a tree in our yard. We also add it in turon when we want them to taste extra special.
• Philippines

Hello kulisap, i love fresh jackfruit too but when its alot better to make jam to prevent from getting over ripe or wasted. My husband loves turon with langka and ginataan with langka too beacause it add extra sweetness and flavors. Thank you for sharing!

Wow! I didn't realize it was that easy to make jackfruit jam! I was in the same predicament when my sister-in-law brought home a huge jackfruit with only a few of us here, it ended up over-riping! I should have just made jackfruit jam then! I do make ube jam. The one that is made from boiling ube, mashing it up, and then mixing condensed milk. That's it! hehehehe.. Have a great Mylot experience ahead!

Making jackfruit jam I thougt it is very hard but when my taught me how to do it i found it very easy and simple. You just need 1 cup of jackfruit puree, 3/4 cup white/brown sugar and litte water. Cut the fruit into small pieces, boil with constant stirring until thick and cook.
