Rice is the staple food of our country. Most people here can't live without it. Me, however, can! I remember not having rice for breakfast as a kid. I just had a cereal and some bread. My mother prepared that only for me. The rest of my siblings were eating rice though. My son is a picky eater and he takes hours on the dining table to finish his food. So I thought, I should give him something else. So I decided for me and my son, we're just going to have pasta from now on. So it's going to be pasta only for dinner time with bread and mashed potato. Let's see if he's going to eat faster this time.

Orson_Kart what's wrong is that it is too much starch, which can cause health problems if consumed on a regular basis. The body converts starch to sugar.

Rice is the staple food even in my area. All my family members eat rice, but now I prefer to take wheat in my dinner.I mean, breads.I don't take lunch.I don't take breakfast either. But I can live without bread as well. From time to time I prefer to replace bread with fast foods like samosas.Everything depends on what I lie to eat on a particular day.

Oooh. I LOVE rice. I mostly eat brown rice. Basmati rice is my favorite. I like the nutty kind of flavor it has. It's also very good for you. I like to make stir fry with it or plain with butter and salt. Most of the time I mix it up with vegetables. But if you can get him to eat the pasta or potatoes that's also very good. Potatoes are important because they contain potassium. Maybe he will hurry up and be done with his dinner now, if he likes the pasta better.

I've always loved rice. I am a rice eater. Every meal, rice is always a part of it. It would seem like there is something missing if rice is absent. But there was this one vacation of mine where I've been to this country where rice is not commonly found in fast foods and restaurants. And I was able to survive it. At first, having a meal without rice was not satisfying, but eventually I was able to get used it.

hi, rice is a rich source of carbohydrates and its cumpolsory to hav rice evryday. Our body needs carbohydrates so its a cumpusory food. Nd being in india we have to abide by the custom of our country. rice is our national crop which means that our land is accustomed to it. as we live on dis land being indians we should hav rice as a dialy habitat. Nd rice is good for health. U shud feed rice to children nd evryone shd hav rice nt as a break fast as its a bit heavy. It suits best as lunch or dinner. If u wanna be on a diet den go wid rice as lunch n roti or chapathi as dinner. Bt rice shud b a cumpolsory dish.

There are different kinds of rice and some are more healthy than others. If you enter the wrods "rice cause diabetes" in a search engine the top results will be that WHITE rice can cause diabetes and that brown rice reduces the risk of Type 2 diabetes. There are two different types of diabetes and the one you get from the way you eat is the result of years of bad habits, not just eating one specific food.

Brown rice is too expensive for ordinary people. That's why our country has a high rate of diabetics. My father's siblings are all diabetic.

Are you aware that rice causes diabetes? Pasta and potatoes are good source of carbohydrates and they are healthy too. Children in some countries are healthy when they haven't even seen rice their entire life. There are other sources of carbohydrates other than rice.

My son loves to eat rice, he would only eat rice when there is meat and vegetables also but I make him eat everything so he won't become picky in the future in eating. He doens't like pasta very much, he would eat it if I make him to but not like he loves it and can live on it. I myself like rice very much too but I don't think I like it for breakfast, it is too much for me for breakfast.

Too heavy for breakfast but most of the people eat fried rice. Filipino fried rice is just too oily. Not healthy at all.

Ooooh, that is way too much starch for one meal! Pasta and bread is bad enough, but adding potatoes... You should choose a different vegetable. Maybe you should also try a different kind of rice. Plain white rice is very bland without any flavor. I eat brown rice and I like both the taste and the chewy texture.

We didn't have potatoes with mac and cheese. We just had bread and some vegetables. Mashed potatoes were served the following day.

Rice is a stable in my country too.We practically eat rice everyday. We skip rice at breakfast but we end up, taking rice for lunch or dinner. Somehow or rather we eat rice at least one meal a day, The other meal may be wheat like noodles or pasta or pizza or just meat.

Hey Toniganzon, My mother-in-law who lives with us, insists that we must eat rice during lunch and dinner. But modern living sometimes we eat outside we may end up in KFC or McDonald. She slowly accepts our way of living. But at least one meal must be rice. At least old folks now begins to adapt modern way of life.

We really have to take notice of the eating habits of our children. In your case, instead of rice, pasta is good since it's still carbohydrates. I am also not eating rice anymore at night. I just eat one or two slices of bread with a minimal viand. I am trying to decrease my getting big bilbil, but to no avail.

You need to exercise more. There's this push-up pro gadget i'm using to flatten my tummy. That's the problem with Fiipino women, we are prone to bilbil lol.

I wasn't brought up eating rice very often. The staple we relied on for our carbohydrates was potatoes for supper, wheat bread for lunch and oatmeal for breakfast. We did have pasta now and then. I like variety and eating the same thing every meal would lose it's appeal with me pretty fast.

My son likes fish a lot and he drinks milk morning and evening. Forcing him to eat rice is so frustrating sometimes so i thought it would be best to give a substitute instead that is equally healthy or even healthier.

Rice is a source of carbohydrates and since there are lots of other foods that contain carbohydrates, there are lots of substitutes, like you said, pasta, bread as well as other grains. As a kid, I can remember not liking rice that much that's why I tend to take a long time finishing my food. For me, rice tastes bland and its just plain white despite the sauces or other viands that go with it. As a young kid, I preferred noodles and macaroni.
