I have a question. Can we legitimately report a user on the grounds of stupidity, and would the powers that be do anything about it? I'm only half serious, of course, everybody has the right to be as stupid as they want to be, but honest to Murgatroyd, I've seen a couple of posts today that will have me scratching my head for weeks. And I'm not talking here about what I see as the religious and political whackos, nor the inanities that are so rife, nor am I talking about those who disagree with me, because everybody says stupid things from time to time, me definitely included, but some discussions or responses.... words fail me. Did you know that most rapes are carried out by Republicans and the religious Right? Now anyone whose read my responses knows what I think of both of those types, but really, come on fella. It reminded me of a passage in a Linda Goodman book, can't remember which one, in which she seriously stated that (I paraphrase) "Not many people know this, but modern English was the language spoken in the Garden of Eden" and then went into some weird numerology blurb based on reading the Bible. I have a whole range of dumb badges which I rotate, usually daily. But there's dumb and there's stupid, and a large difference in degree, IMHO. Lash

Since I saw this topic when I logged on at my breakfast time, I have been scouring the Terms and, alas, nowhere does it say that if you are stupid you cannot register I guess it takes all sorts to make an offline world so likewise it will follow that there is a bit of everything here too

You can´t blame someone for being stupid. But whoever came up with your example about Republicans and rape isn´t just stupid. They´re dangerously stupid, and the danger is that someone might actually listen to them. So hit that report button, please.

P1ke, I have a discussion going on why do women support such ideas, but so far I've seen no compelling explanation other than the one I myself put up, that it's characterological and has no basis in logic or reason that anyone can see. It just is. Lash

Here is something more stupid for you to scratch your head ..I believe in the Holy Linda Goodman.. Of course not.. There was a serial called "Some Mothers Do Have them"...it used to be my favorite one ..once upon a time before serials like "Two and a half men" corrupted me..lol

Hi, In times like these, I always remember the great Voltaire who would give up his life defending your right to say things he may not even approve. Well, that's talking things to the extreme, there times that some statements could go against our sentiments, even against our principles or digressing from common sense, still, it is their right that we have to defend in this land of the free and home of the brave.

Exactly what part of "And I'm not talking here about what I see as the religious and political whackos, nor the inanities that are so rife, nor am I talking about those who disagree with me, because everybody says stupid things from time to time, me definitely included," did you not comprehend? Ah stupidity what a wonderful friend to a lot of people. I am not perfect and no one is, but I have read some posts on here that I seriously had to ask "what the f---" because it was just that bad. I am not talking about any specific posts in any specific categories, but some of the posts within these categories just make my brain hurt. I particularly love the posts that have nothing to do with the subject or a response that has nothing to do with the response given or any of the responses given. I am not talking about advancing the discussion or bringing up another point, but things like: A response to discussion: I think that people should be allowed to eat whatever they want even if you don't like a particular food due to taste, smell, etc. B response to A: Well that is because you support abortion and selling people into slavery. And then you look at this response even if you are just commenting on the discussion and can't help but wonder if the person on the other side is high or something. Because "B" certainly had nothing to do with "A". And the people who use the strangest statistics that don't even make sense and the sentences like the one you wrote up there. Did she seriously say modern english was the language spoken in the garden of Eden? .... I have nothing to say about that woman's book. Nothing at all. I don't.. no no.. nothing to say. However, it is things like that on here that make me sometimes say "I don't want to live on this planet anymore."

Your response was so spot on and funny! I hope you receive a best response lol. I usually will read a discussion and respond and THEN go on to read other responses and sometimes comment back on them. It really boggles me when I come upon a response in a discussion that says something totally unrelated to the original topic - UNLESS it's a personal conversation that has gone back and forth with one respondent. One thing I wish people could be reprimanded here for - trying to disguise an OPINION - which is just fine to use - but trying to claim it is NOT simply an opinion but also a FACT and THE ONLY TRUTH. I don't know where people get off saying things like that....it's like they are blind to the fact there are billions of other people on this planet and therefore likely BILLIONS of other OPINIONS that are just as right to others as theirs are to them. An opinion is not fact or truth necessarily lol.

Aida, she really did say that. Moon Signs, or Star Signs or something like that, I read it twenty years ago and can't remember exactly, she wrote several books on Astrology and some other really weird things. Lash

I used the ! for the first time in 5 years. Why? This guy was calling me a liar and implied I mistreated another member. I wanted Admin to know I did nothing.Usually I just write my piece and they write theirs and if we disagree , we agree to disagree. But this guy First called me a liar and then for about a week tried to get me to admit it. Well He didn't know how stubborn I am and that I didn't mind saying the same thing over and over again. But this I mistreated a member B.S. got me to report him. Will this help? I have no idea but it did feel good!

Precisely. I'm not really serious, but it feels better when we can vent a bit. Lash

I um... usually don't even finish reading posts like that and I certainly would not feed the troll (or stupid person) by actually RESPONDING to it. People whose posts always go unanswered and ignored generally stop contributing heavily here.
