What will happen if I posted multiple replies on same discussion?

I have read this from myLot discussion guidelines Now for the DON'Ts Make multiple posts on the same subject for the purpose of getting attention paid to your issue. I almost replied to a discussion that I have already answered. Well, if we have answered hundreds or thousands of discussion I think we can possibly forget which from which we already have participated. Just awhile ago I clicked on a discussion which I find interesting. As I read the discussion I thought it was familiar to me so I scrolled till its last page and I found my response. Its good that it only have three pages replies and I was the last responser so I easily found mine but if not maybe I had posted twice unintentionally. So what will happen if I ever negligent and has posted multiple replies in one thread? Am I gonna be banned from Mylot for an unintentional violation of guidelines?

Many of us post multiple responses, if they are unique responses to a discussion. It is like having a discussion in person. I do not get with a bunch of my friends, give my opinion of something and then never say a word again. I comment on the responses others leave, if I feel like it. I have fun as well. It is not against the guidelines. The only way it would be against the guidelines would be if you said the same thing to everyone.

Hello GardenGerty..Yeah I do that also, leaving comments on another responser's box but what I mean is leaving multiple own original responses on different boxes.. but I think I just made that discussion guidelines complicated for me I took it with different and totally wrong interpretations..

I agree with you Gerty. Sometimes, when I´m reading the answers before I give my own, I discover that I just want to add (or agree as in this case)to another answer. Other times, I will just place my own answer. It´s like any real conversation with more than one person. I always feel I´m at a party, here at mylot

Ally, I think we all appreciate the fact that you want to stay within the guidelines, that is good. Marguicha, let the party roll on, I am more sociable here than I am in real life.

I think multiple replies on same discussion is not good idea because we have lots of discussions for responses. Why we respond only on one discussions. But I think discussion will be deleted only if more responses in same discussion. Nothing than this.

I guess normally we approach discussions of our interests only and those discussions which attract our attention. There may be so that we have been back to a discussion which we had responded few days back without realizing the fact that we had already put our views on line. In case of discussions with low responses, we can see if we already responded them, but in case of pages of response, we are in trouble to find out browsing all the response pages and wasting time thereby. Lamb pointed out an effective method to avoid all these. Cheer up.

As the Lamb says, the Guidelines refer to posting discussions, not really to responses. You certainly can post more than one respomse to a discussion if you feel it's necessary and as long as you don't repeat yourself. It is more logical, though, if you feel you have something extra to add, to post it as a comment to your original response. Occasionally it happens by mistake that the same response gets posted twice. These are usually reported (either by the person who posted them or by someone else) and Admin deletes them. You don't lose any 'reputation points' when that happens.

You don't lose any 'reputation points' when that happens. That is exactly what I was thinking, that is why I raised this discussion. I was thinking that posting multiple comments regardless if that was an honest mistake is a violation that can possibly affect my performance grade or reputation points. Im thankful to all of you veteran Mylotters here for giving me enlightenment to my concern.

I guess, if your write up is different from the previous thread, your post will be kept out there. But, in my view, we can get track of our postings and replies there at on our mails by modifying the settings. I use to look back at my mails if someone has responded to my discussion or threads and get back to them if I have anything to say. If your repeated posting continues in several posts than the admin might warn you in advance about the issues before banning you. Try to be careful with your posts and instead of going for a fresh reply try to interact with other respondents so that the discussion gets interesting and gives value to those who visit your posts. Cheer up!

ally Can it be this way? A member should not post the same reply again and again in the same discussion or in other discussions. For example a person types a response once for a few lines, copies and pastes it in many discussions or again and again in the same discussion. this should not be done. If without your knowledge second response posted with different wordings for the same discussion we can press ! and request deletion.

Nice question. I also have the doubt.

If you posted multiple replies or one to each person, it would depend on whether you give the reply to the respective responder, but it should not be a "let us say horrible things about the person who started the post," or have an inside conversation as if the originator of the post does not exist. As for your situation, if you forgot that you had already answered the originator on the first page because your reply was farther down or overcome by the long discussions before and after, when you do reply on the sixth page, it would not be the exact copy of what you wrote on the first place My lot is talking about a repeat discussion and usually what you can do is to write my lot and tell them to delete the extra one.

For me, I never have such problem by repeating my responses to the same discussion because of the following factors: 1. Whatever responses or comments I made, for sure I do have the impression to them. 2. Normally, I shall responds to the recent new discussions which appear in my email notifications. 3. If I am responding to old discussions, I shall read through all of the relevant responses to ensure for not commenting again. I shall add my comment to my earlier response of the particular discussion if I have something new in my mind. About you question, I guess we shall not be banned if we post different contents in our responses to the same discussion.
