The laptop that I've been using for so long. How much do you love your Laptop?

My beloved MSI U100 Netbook - This is my netbook. It has been my laptop since 2009. It served a lot of my needs, from school works to entertainment.

It's been 3 years since I bought this netbook. Its an MSI U100 notebook. YOu might be asking why I bought this one. I know MSI is a good brand because my colleagues referred that brand to me as cheap but very reliable. I need a very portable laptop that's why I decided to buy my very first laptop out of my own money. I actually have old laptops before but my relatives just gave them to me. But this time I really saved for it since I really need a laptop to work on my school projects and something that I can use when Im going to school. Whats nice with this laptop is that although it's made of plastic, It managed to survive a lot of drops. Accidental drops, which we cant really avoid. I almost cried because I thought I broke it before when I dropped it from a table about 3ft high. At first, It was really hard to adapt to smaller keyboard, but using it for more than 3 years, I feel comfortable with already. That best feature that I really use on this laptop is its wifi capability. Since its portable I could easily bring my laptop anywhere, so I can access free wireless connections on hotspots. But since I have a smartphone already, I barely use my netbook for internet browsing. Now, I only use my laptop for skype calls with our relactives. But it's still very useful, I could stream videos with it and download files non stop the whole month since it doesn't eat a lot of electricity compared to my Desktop. I could also edit photos that I have taken through my DSLR on the go. My laptop has served me a lot already. Good to see that it's not yet nearing to it's death because it does still work perfectly. This is why I really love this laptop. For this has served me for so long, I would treasure it and take care of it. Never will I sell it. How do you love you laptop? Share it with us? Happy MyLotting! :)

I have been using mine for around 8 years already. My laptop is still in good condition with the exception of decreasing memory and a still working but getting off a key on the keyboard. Well, my laptop has witnessed a lot of stress and working within the 8 years. It also experienced non stop working for around 3 days during my thesis and plant design days during college. I am already accustomed to using it and I have no plans of buying another one until this unit breaks down on me.

I have also an eight year old laptop, but I broke its charger thats why im not using it for a long time. Laptop chargers costs really expensive so i decided not to buy a charger for it and just keep it. 8 years is very long, new software are becoming more demanding thats why i upgrade frequently.

Yeah, I find my laptop outdated already especially with the graphics requirement of a lot of games. However, my laptop's purpose is already defined. It is only for my personal documents, online needs and file storage purposes. I am not using it for gaming or movies also. Most of the time, I use it only to connect online. It's purpose is still well served by it so I don't see any problem.

My laptop is rather new,I have it for less than six months. It's a Asus N53SN series.I can listen to every song I want, look at any movie at any given quality I want,I can play every game I want to play.I can say that it's good. But I like the most the fact that It can detect Wi-Fi.I didn't have this option on other laptops. It is good, and I hope it won't be old that soon.

Unfortunately technology changes very fast. Good that you have a new laptop, it wont be that too old very fast. Yes, ancient laptops dont detect wifi. But now wifi is already common to all even on mobile phones too. Asus is also good brand of laptops as well motherboards for Desktop computers. You've got the right choice. :)

Hi cagampan, It is good to hear your feelings about your laptop, I like my laptop too, I am using this since 2008, it is HP laptop and it serves well and still I didn't experiance any problem with that lovely product. I bought this in my graduation to practice my programming languages and I did my project using this laptop only, now also I am using this laptop only, it is also like your laptop with wifi and some other features, the funny thing is the price of my laptop is fallen to half of that price when I pruchased that. I also won't sell or give this to anyone if I need to replace my laptop then I will keep this and will buy another one...

Well my laptop is more than 3 years old! I soon retire him and buy a little, younger netbook XD Sadly my netbook is like an old car, doesn't start easily, sometimes stops, and a Smart would be enough...

Thats my problem before, that's why I bought a netbook with a better specification. Its so annoying when your laptop doesn't want to start at all at times that you really need access some files with it. And also my old laptop would also shutdown by itself that's why I bought a new netbook. Thanks for commenting on my post.

I value my laptop almost as much as my phone. I would lose my mind without it. Due to the lifestyle that my husband and I live, we HAVE to be connected and sometimes having the laptop at all times makes it so much more convenient! I don't mind typing on my phone for texting, but if I have to send out an e-mail, I can get it done so much faster on the laptop. I hate the touch screen keys on the phone and I REALLY hate swipe. The laptop that I have now, I've had for a little over a year and it's still going strong. I love my laptop!! Lol =)

I use to check my emails and play games with my laptop. ALso its a way communicating with my relatives from Australia through skype or magicjack.

My laptop is more than a year old. But the thing is, it is still very fast and appeared as the same as I have bought it more than a year ago. I have always taken care of it since I like it a lot. The only thing perhaps that is a problem now is the battery since it needs to be replaced, my laptop is HP touch smart, it has the capability of a laptop and it can be folded into a tablet with touch screed. Very ideal for presentations. In fact is is the reason why I choose such model since it fits my needs. I have won plans of upgrading it since it is still working out well and many people admired it still,

Wow its also tablet. Before I also liked that but it's expensive. Battery really is the main problem with laptops. It easily gets worn out that it wont last too long already after a year.

My laptop has been with me for 8 months now. And it's good to know that your laptop last a long time. A friend of mine told me that a laptop nowadays would only last for 2 years...and I was quite disappointed because I don't want my laptop to last like that. I do believe that if it is handled with care, it will really last. Have a nice day.

2 years is already long. For my sister's laptop got already LCD problems like horizontal lines showing in less than a year of usage. The only laptop that I think is really reliable today are the Macbooks. But they are expensive, this is because they have really really long lifespan.

Hi cagampan! My netbook has been part of my life already. We have been together for nearly two years and we are inseparable. It's a 12-inch ASUS eePC, the very first and only net book that I have. Because of this netbook, I've learned how to work online. When I started my job as public servant, I was separated from my family because of the distance of my assignment. That was the time that I started to look for an online job just to ease the loneliness.

Wow, Asus is also a good brand. Ive got the 10in version of MSI netbook. I must have bought also the 12in one because some applications are not supported because it's resolution is lower than the standard resolution which is at least 768px vertically. Wow it's good to here that at least you found a way ease you loneliness.

it is wonderful your notebook still alive. Electronic devices which are being using currently is very sensitive and can't keep hopes for alive long term. But in early Electronic devices was very good for long term usage.

I really agree with you. The old gadgets were more reliable than the latest one. maybe because manufacturers tend to cost cut because of the current situation of the economy.

If your netbook dropped and it's still working, I would say that you got a good one. I have an ipad and I love it so much. It's so portable and real lightning fast compare to laptops. I got a toshiba one time and I used it for one year. it still works good but then I decided to give it to my family. Afterwards, I had an hp laptop but I wasn't satisfied with the performace so I gave it up and trade it in with an ipad. That's the best thing that I ever did. Although it has no cd rom and usb, I don't need it anyway because I also have a desktop.

iPad are really useful specially if you are just going to do simple email and web browsing. And few typings or photo editing. And iPad got so many userful and nice apps.

I have had my laptop over 4 years now and still serves me well, but I now have a cheap android tablet that is easier to travel with and the battery lasts longer, but typing on the touch screen is a bit of a pain

Its nice that you're laptop still runs fines. My sister also has a lenovo laptop. But its LCD shows horizontal lines in less than year. Show she had it replaced by Lenovo. After a few months Horizontal lines again appeared. Unfortunately it's out of warranty so she can't have it replaced for free.

I do this always on my old gadgets. Sold them for a better one. But there are just some gadgets that have been already a part of you and just cant easily sell them especially if you've bought that with your own money.

Hello, I have had my laptop computer for nearly 5 years now, and I bought it second hand so you can imagine hold old it really is. It works perfect for me, although the battery no longer holds it's charge but I only use it at home so I just leave it plugged in. It is on 24/7 and never complains. It's like an old pair of slippers, you just cant bare parting with them. Simply put if it aint broke then dont try to fix it. It's a Compaq Evo with fantastic JBL Pro speakers which is great for music, alot better than some of the new laptops/netbooks that are on sale nowadays. I dont play games on it so the lack of RAM and speed really does'nt matter. I think older laptops and desktop computers were built alot better a few years ago, they seem to be alot more robust. New laptops, you just need to give them alittle nudge and they start to play up. Anyway, Have a cool day.

Yes JBL is really a good brand of speakers. Compaq before are really sturdy but todays most compaq laptops really suffer from gpu problems and the LCD showing LCD lines.

I actually am using an HP laptop. I have chosen this because of its design as I can use it like a laptop and then flip the monitor and fold and convert it like a tablet. It is really amazing and I find it fitting for my line of work. As you can see, I conduct trainings and make a lot of lectures and presentations. It also has a remote control which I can use to go over my slides as well as play music and videos. It also comes with a stylus should I need to write down something. Definitely it has many features but it does come with a heavy price. But I really don't mind since it has fulfilled and even surpassed my expectations.

I know just how you feel! My laptop is almost like another appendage. I don't know what I would do if something happened to it. I use it daily and I would be lost without it.

I've actually had the laptop that I use the most regularly for over six years. I really do like it and it is still something that is able to fulfill my needs. Normally I use my desktop computer and I absolutely love my computer. This was a computer that has been custom built and though there is not a ton of onboard memory, it is fast enough to meet my needs and i especially love the fact that I have my favorite photo editing software on both my laptop and my desktop computers.

Well,i have been using my Dell studio 1535 for over 5 years.Well,it had many accidental drops and twice formatted and also had to replace many parts during the course of time. But as i took global replacement and coverage, it burned less of my money. And with the things replaced versus investment, it has been fine.I never liked dell battery as it went out cold within 4 years. But otherwise with performance and things, i am happy with my laptop. When i bought it was 160 GB laptop. Now with things and many around, 160 is easily filled. So had to buy a hard disk. But that was always fine.My laptop has also served me in my travels and also has helped me with online things.I do not use office laptop other than for office and professional things. So my personal laptop has been an entertainer and more of helper in things for me.I know for sure, the laptop might not stay for longer period like it did for 5 years. But as long as ti stays and works fine, i am with it for the journey forward.I like my laptop for sure. Thanks!
