Oooops, I am perturbed by the chest phlegm issue since months together. Few months back, I was taking allopathy medicines but nothing goes fine. Hence, I switched over to the homeopathy medicines now. However, the issue persists now and yesterday night I was not able to sleep due to the phlegm which caused coughing constantly. I am totally disturbed by this. Shall I rely on homeopathy medicine or switch over to allopathy .Please advise me.

This is what I've done for chest phlegm problems: 1) I've Robitussin M.D. The kind with the active ingredient Guaifenesin. Don't get the one with the cough suppressant...in this case, it doesn't do any good...and you are going to cough. Make you take it accordingly to the directions. If you are coughing a lot and you want to suppress the cough, get the coughing kind, BUT it may not have much Guaifensein as the kind without the coughing suppressant. 2) Drinks a TON of water. More than 64 oz. 3) When you start having the need to cough, you want to cough it up...and wash it down the drain (I know; that's really, really gross...but we want you to better!) This has helped me when I've had phlegm issues. Also, do some sort of exercising (depending on how sick you are...that's up to your own judgment) will help you loosen up the phlegm to get it out of your system.

If this doesn't help, like the others have voiced, please go see the doctor. Sometimes, the phlegm will get so concentrated that you won't be able to get it out. But as recommended, lots of fluids are VERY important. I hope you feel better, my dear. It sucks to have phlegm in your chest! It feels like your chest is suffocating!!!! XOXOXO!

I think it's better for you to drink more water or some water with honey.

Fluids, fluids, fluids, the clearer the better. Water is the best, but as long as you keep pushing the fluids it will be of help. I've had that problem also and that's what the doc told me. As much cranberry juice to. Keeping yourself secreted will get the phlegm moving, but definitely talk to your doctor. At one time, none of this worked, I had to be hospitalized and they had to get a therapist in to pound on my back and sides. 3 times a day for almost a week before it would finally break up. Be careful for you do'nt want pneumonia from this, which can happen.

It will be better to consult your doctor.Try to observe the best medicine among the two given. Try to do purse lip breathing.
