Hi Dsassodils, I too know Kerala people will celebrate Onam festival, in Andhra we will celebrate "Sankranthi" festival in the Month of January. This festival falls only in January monthly only that is also in between 12th to 16th of January,on those days our people also decorate the space with flowers, art of lines(muggulu) with Go-bar pots in middle of the art. Have a nice day.

Hi Ravisivan, Thanks for the response, Sankranthi also one of the important festivals for farmers and Telugu people. I do not the communities in India will celebrate Sankranthi festival or not? Yes the son of ex chief minister's son is still in jail, these people are the responsible for price hike in Andhra Pradesh. Total Congress Govt does not do any good thing to the people, but they pacify that they are doing good to the people. Have a nice day.

Hi Das, Happy Onam. For me Onam is not for celebrating, but I used to use this day as the day for revision. I had my early life in Kerla for 25 years of Onam every year and those past memories are the feast for me. I am missing all my people around and not even feel like celebrate here in their absence. Hope you are celebrating Onam with all your family, and say my regards to your brother and parents. Hope you all are prepared the special 'payasm' and 'pradhaman'. Regards

I know absolutely nothing about Onam because I am not from the same part of the world that you are from. With that said, the way that you celebrate the holiday does sound a lot like the way that we celebrate many of the important holidays during the course of the year here in the United States. For me, the two holidays where it is the most important to spend time with our family is Thanksgiving (in November) and Christmas (in December).

I know about onam and i am not malayalie. This festival is celebrating by kerala people in respect with their king mahabali. It is believe by kerala peoples that their king visit their country on that day and for that people are welcoming the day by decorating flowers. In all kerala families on that day they put "athapoo" rangoli on that day to celebrate that festival. Am I right?

Happy ONAM to you. I take this opportunity to wish all Keralites in mylot a Great Onam. Hope everyone one celebrate the same with great joy. The rain is disturbing much everywhere in India and I felt it may affect the people in Kerala too. I am away from the state, still we too celebrate in our own way. Once again Happy Onam dear. Enjoy.

Dassodils: nice to hear from you. You appear more confident, more interested. good keep it up. Onam -- I saw asianet through internet here. I find they are mentioning about it in Ideastar singer program also. Ranjani one who is compering that program makes it interesting. Enjoy Onam. Be happy. go to church. Respect elders. Let good things happen to you and all the members of your family. I know Onam is an important festival in Kerala just as Pongal is an important festival in Tamil Nadu.

Not really, this is probably the first time I heard of such festival. I think there are so many different festivals being celebrated there in India. And it seems the same with Chinese cultures, they celebrate many different festivals also.
