The Yin and Yang of god..

I think nature displays a lot of symmetry. We have good the opposite of which is bad, we have male, the opposite of which is female, we have day, the opposite of which is night, and then there is fat, opposite of which is lean. So if there is god then the opposite of god is ..devil? I wonder what is the opposite of trees..or grass..but never mind. We are with god for now. I know many people dont believe in god, and ghosts. Here, I am presuming ghosts are personnel in devil's armed forces just like the draculas, and poltergiests, and warewolves and witches, what have you. Coming back to ghosts, we are curious about them. I found some article about haunted house in Ludhiana where scriptures were being torn by demonic spirit, and the owner of the house was terrified (she didnt look that terrified to me). The article was on Yahoo (India), and then 10 most Haunted destinations, the video of this was promptly deleted. So my curiosity was aroused. Sitting here, in front of computer, amidst intelligent souls like you all, I would happily announce I dont believe in ghosts and I believe in god. But the two go hand in hand dont they? I mean, if you asked me to stay in one of those haunted homes I wouldnt, notwithstanding my supposed profound belief in god. I do know that when property prices increase people try to get others properties at throwaway prices by spreading such false rumors. I also know that some people play tricks on others. It is not about weak psychology. It is about willingness to believe. In some way, many of us are willing to believe that ghosts exist though we have never personally encountered one. However, we do not believe in god that easily notwithstanding the fact that holy shrines are able to keep our minds away from mundane issues, and some of our hopes and aspirations are fulfilled periodically by the almighty. We dismiss that as something that happens in ordinary course, while ghosts do not get such perfunctory rejection. So my question to you all is....whether you find it easier to be curious about haunted places than places where god's miracles happen? Honest answers please..I am trying to assess whether I am the only one who gets more curious about the so called ghosts. :)

God places people in our lives so that we might learn and teach through the interactions. What better way to do this than to place opposites together? That is why opposites attract. It is the glue that brings them together for the learning. Opposites are an important factor in it all. As for ghosts, let's use a bit of logic. If a ghost kills you then you will be a ghost and that ghost will then have you to deal with. Make sense?? I would have no problem staying in a haunted house. Further, those that are cursed, have spells put on them or demons chasing them, send them all to bird 123. I'll be happy to take them all off your hands. If those demons argue, tell them I think they are a coward. Relax and get some sleep. Drink a glass of warm milk then sleep in a cool room. Things will be great by morning. Oh, one last thing, Being too warm while you sleep can cause nightmares. It has nothing to do with demons or ghosts. Go for those cold or at least cool rooms and not too many covers. It will be such good sleep you won't want to get out of bed.

No ..honest bird..at times we all have those attacks of self-pity and anger, and at such times I do have lousy words to think of for those who hurt me. How does it help me? No way. Especially since I have succeeded in keeping them out of my life. So why put my vehicle in reverse gear. But mind is mind. It keeps thinking ..I will do like this and I will talk like that, to make those folks miserable. lol. But they must be miserable already. So why do I dwell on those thoughts? Perverted pleasure? It is this negativity that needs to stop. You said stop and do something positive. Another sage said sing..I used to sing a lot. He said just sing anything, even film music but keep your mind away. Or do what keeps your mind engaged so that you do not have time to dwell on something like this. Over a period, such things will become healed wounds, and insignificant. But for that stopping is necessary..lol. Trust me, stopping has been possible because of you. :)

Bird almost in every post you offer such a good hint. I often feel I should start compiling those hints. Like in this one you mentioned hot rooms give nightmares. In the previous one you gave me a way to stop negativity by just stopping thinking negative and doing something positive instead. Merely reading what you write can help me a lot I think. :) Thanks for coming into my life bird. One of the things written in the temple posters is remain in the company of good people listen to what they say and read about them. It can increase self-awakening. You are one such person. Thanks once again.

I believe in God and I believe in ghosts. I do think that some "hauntings" are demons of some sort, but many are just spirits that failed to move on, for whatever reason. Now, I say that I believe in ghosts, not because of a "faith" thing, I believe because I've seen one. Not of a person, but a cat that we had that passed away. After both I and my former roommate finally said something about it, we confirmed that we had kind of been seeing the same thing. The kicker of it is, it was another pet cat who got us talking about it. She had crept up to the spot where the cat had stayed the last couple of months of her life, and finally got there and sniffed the place. Then she jumped down and walked away, having decided that there wasn't anything of interest there - but she could've only been seeing Silver's ghost. So, after talking about it for another day, I went over and sat by the spot and told her that it was okay, that she didn't have to stay, that over there was a better place to be. Then I put the Sign of the Cross with Holy Water there and we never saw the ghost again.

Those who die in prison are angry people, those who die on battlefields are mostly just guys who are there... There are haunted battlefields, I understand there are a few from the American Civil War, that was a war, especially on the side of the South, where there were a lot of strong feelings.

Firstly, good and bad, male and female, day and night, etc are not opposite but complementary pairs. And complementary things attract each other. The phantom of God too has a complementary - the humanity. Now my honest answer to your questions - I have never been curious about haunted places and places of God's miracles. Both types of these places are outcomes of one's ignorance. I am quite confident that ghosts and God do not exist, hence I have no curiosity about these.

I wouldnt say god and humanity are complementary. That would mean god can do everything and humans can do nothing. :)

Sorry, beg to differ with you. Humans can do everything while God can do nothing for his non-existence..

Miracles hold more curiosity for me than ghosts. I'm not sure I believe in ghosts. Yet, like yourself, I would not want to spend the night in a haunted house. I am much more curious about God. Your thought about soldiers' ghosts not haunting battlefields is interesting. There is a battlefield in Gettysburg, Pa. that is said to be haunted by ghosts of soldiers from the Civil War. The battle at Gettysburg is said to have been the bloodiest battle of the Civil War. Their are other battlefields, as well, that are said to be haunted. I'm not sure if I want to believe in ghosts as most of the things one hears about them are scary. New England, where I live, is rife with stories of ghosts and supernatural goings on. Being Catholic, when I think of God I also think of the Holy Ghost. I don't know if the Holy Ghost is part of other religions or not. Interesting topic for a discussion.

The very fact that we are not willing to live in a haunted house means somewhere inside us we accept the possibility of existence of ghosts.. lol I often discount miracles as something that people who are overly devout are trying to claim to be true. Deazil, I am a Hindu. And while ghost stories exist in our religion as well, they are or were not repeated as often as what we hear about ghosts in Christian graveyards. Perhaps it is a subconscious belief that people who are buried in coffins can rise up intact and so more ghost stories are there in Christianity and Islam may be. Our scriptures do ask us to avoid writing about sad things and fearful things. It is only now that we are realizing that there is some wisdom in that instruction. And thank you about that topic. :)

There are things that are not logical in every religion. So moving out of one religion to study another religion can result in a lot of disillusionment later on. We have the lead time in our religion, we can modify it as we consider appropriate. However, once you convert to another religion, you cannot return, and might have similar sets of doubts, which need logical explanations.

Hinduism is a most interesting religion. Many years ago I read much on the Hindu religion. I had thought, at one time, to embrace it. But, as with many things I had hoped to accomplish, life got in the way. Thank you for the comment!
