I am sorry to bring up this topic, but I have been trying to concentrate on my discussions and write well thought out answers but I cannot concentrate because of the mosquito bites I have on my arms. This year for some reason I have turned into a mosquito banquet, most years I am rarely bitten but today I counted twelve bites on one of my hands alone and they are driving me nuts. I have tried all types of lotions and even home remedies like rubbing with vinegar, but the itchiness does not seem to stop. I am lucky in a way as the are I live does not have disease carrying mosquito's, these are just plane old bites. Does anyone have any advice on what to do to help stop the itchiness.

Hi, I just got several mosquito bites on my arms and also on my legs. Mosquito is a horrible thing, just now I felt itchy and found one mosquito was biting me, I beat it and its belly was full of blood. It's my blood. I smeared some ginger juice on it, and it's not itchy any more, you can try it. It really works.

Water is always good. Or just normal moisturisor. I suffer from bites myself and that is what I do. I go and have a shower and allow water to un over the bites. or even get a damp cloth onto the bites. This I use for both mosquitos and even fleas if we have a flea problem. It's not the fastest remedy, but does stop the itch a bit quicker

I have noticed that if I touch them in any way they start becoming very itchy, that applies to water or lotions so I try to minimize any contact with them when possible. When I wash the dishes for instance my hands feel wonderful and fresh in the water but as soon as the water dries it is as if all the bites decide to become itchy at the same time. Thank you for the advice though.

Try damping the bites with a cloth damped in warm water. Dry your skin and put a generous amount of calamine lotion.

Water has the opposite effect on me, as soon as I wash my hands the itchiness returns, I should tried a lotion with calamine in it, but maybe just plain calamine should work. Thank you.

I am using katinko ointment for insect bites. But it would be better to prevent the mosquito from biting you. You should try mosquito repellant lotion. Or simply wear clothes with longer sleeves and loose pants. That's what I do and also I sleep under a mosquito net.

I have never heard of katinko ointment will look it up, thank you. I have lived in places that needed nets and extra care with mosquito's but this is the first time in over five years that I have had such a bad reaction. This city does not have a real mosquito problem, I normally get a bite every now and again and generally they go away after a day or two. This year it is as if just as soon as one heals another 3 replace it. Thank you for the advice though.

Thanks for sharing, skin of many including me is very sensitive to mosquito bites, the spot swells and itch a lot. These days mosquitoes are menace every where, the mosquito repelling coils, liquids, tablets produce a vapor that has the same chemical; but the present generation mosquitoes are resistant to that, even DDT is no more effective, herbal creams that has sandal and turmeric is good. To stop itching i apply herbal cream and at times a home made paste of sandal wood powder, turmeric.

Are you sure those are mosquito bites? Few months ago, I had a lot of insect bites. I really thought I was bitten by mosquitoes. There red patches on my arms , legs and thighs and they were excruciatingly itchy. It turned out there were bed bugs under the mattress. We immediately got rid of the infested bed . I took antihistamine to get rid of the itch and I bought terramycin cream.
