There are assumptions going on here. Taking a stand on users without really knowing them. This is a virtual world where the good, bad and the ugly is often hidden. ASSUME as you know is making an AS.S of U and ME. If a topic is good respond to it, if a response is worthy of a comment go ahead and comment and last but not the least if an activity is a guidelines violation report it regardless of who the offender is. By following the above rule myLot will be a cleaner, unbiased site. Your views please.

report it regardless of who the offender is. Exactly, as far as I know, no one is above the law of Mylot. Or am I missing something?

How do you notice "an element of selective reporting"? We don't know what is deleted because it was reported and what was deleted because admin saw it. We also don't know what was not deleted even though it was reported. Maybe you meant 'selective deleting'? In that case you should contact admin directly surely?

No. You are not missing anything. I can't possibly have a look at all discussions but I do notice there is an element of selective reporting which if avoided this could be cleaner site.

Deleting is done by myLot but selective reporting is done by users. Do you think selective reporting is never done? Now I am asking you that! If you feel that you have reported and Admin has ignored your reporting that also needs a second look.

I have been reading your topic ever since you posted it and I don't understand. Is there something to read between the lines? Are you suggesting that is a topic is 'bad' (opposite of 'good') we should not respond to it? Surely 'good' is like 'beauty' and depends on the eye of the beholder, in this case, the reader? "if an activity is a guidelines violation report it regardless of who the offender is." Did you practice what you preach? Was the reported post then removed?

what on earth do you mean bia sed? I often respond to my friends discussions here first then to others who are not on my list but I assure you if I am not interested in a discussion no matter who posted it I will not respond,. for example I know nothing about cricket or other like sports even football is not meaningful to me so no matter who posts it,I will not respond as I have no knowledge on which to make an intelligent response,.I do not think responding to discussions my friends made if I like the topic is being biased as I also respond all day to others too,the only place I will not respond to are those without answers as 90 percent of them have broken a guidline rule and if i respond I will just lose my response.

I was merely stating that one should not get biased but just respond to topics forgetting who has posted them. A topic should get all the importance and not the one who has posted it. This is based on my observation. And this lecture was certainly not meant for veterans like you! There is nothing between the lines. Very simple, coming from a simple user.

If I report I will surely not see who it is I am reporting.

alllknowing to advise newcomers to read the g uidelines and the FAQ's is not taking a stand on anyone without really knowing them at all. It is just good advice based on the truth that'nmany do not realize that the guidelines and the FAQ's hold the key to smooth use of my lot without d losing posts. If we help' people to know how to make discussions and avoid losing their 'posts then there are Less guideline violations to report,'So no I d o not assume anything.

Are you saying that we shouldn't dictate to others how to mylot and just be content on how we interact and network here? I believe that sometimes we make too many of "mylot this way" "you need to pay attention this" discussions, and not enough on the "let's make friends" "let's give advice" or "here's an update" discussions.

That is not what I have in mind. I only wanted users not to get biased or prejudiced based on whatever opinion they may wrongly form here. This is after all a virtual site were little or no information is available on users.

"This is after all a virtual site were little or no information is available on users" There are many users who are extremely open and share everything, except what colour toilet paper they use. If others are unaware of this then maybe it is them, and not those who share, who are treating this as a 'virtual world' rather than oepningup and realising that there are hardly any differences between the two.

I hardly find anyone with their real names. So much for being open!! Whether it is myLot or any other site no one is encouraged to bare it all on the Net.

As I have mentioned from the previous discussions with the other myLot members. We are entitled to express our freedom. I don't think that we need to make our statements sugar coated, just to please everybody. Is that what you are pointing to?

What is the definition of 'virtual world'? Here many of us know enough about each other and even though we have never met face to face, we have no secrets.

Ofcourse we have the liberty to express our opinions but certainly not based on some bias or prejudice we may have against users here. This is a virtual world and should be treated a such.
