Body Shaper Clothes

India
September 9, 2012 10:01am CST
A couple of days back while I was surfing tv channels after 12am I came across a commercial. The commercial was about body shaper clothes. It showed that how an oversize woman could hide her belly fat under body shaper clothes. I must agree wearing those clothes under their outfit, those women did appear to be slimmer than before. I was wondering if it is safe to use those clothes on a regular basis. Has anyone tried body shaper clothes? Please share your experience and let us know how you find them? Also, do those body shapers have any adverse effect on our body?

Hi Inderjeet! I am not inclined to believe that there could be such clothes which could hide our belly or fatness or unwanted bulges. To me it could a marketing gimmick to sell the clothes because everybody wants to look slim. I think combination of some colours and patterns could help a person look slimmer than what s/he actually is. Have a grt day.

Oh yes! Colors, patterns and fabrics do make a person look slimmer, taller and fairer. Well Deepak, I think may be that the fabric used in body shaper clothes constricts the extra loose flesh. Then wearing the other outfit over it makes the body to appear balanced and in shape giving a firm look from above. @Vandana - Don't loose hope as exercising is still an option to consider if not priority

When you use body shapers, you have to keep in mind that you should purchase one that is comfortable for you. It is not healthy to go over a very smaller size that is too skimpy and suffocating.Once you put on a very tight shaper your circulation will be affected, your breathing and your body will not be supplied with enough blood that it needs. It could cause varicosities in your body and I know that you would not want that. I know that almost everyone likes to be as skinny as the models that we see but we should learn to love our shape and flaunt our assets. I am fat but i rarely use shapers. Usually, I buy dresses that fits my curves. I do not advise you to always wear shapers but try to look for dresses that are too fitted that would expoe your flabs, go for fluffy dresses. It might look great on you. If you like you can check mg blog to see the idea of dressing up and styling based on your shape http://fatfashionologhist.blogspot.com/

I have only seen tv commercials for this. It claims that such clothes tightens the excess fat around belly giving it a good shape, but only temporary. From what I have seen in the commercial I think it would be impossible to have a morsel or sip of anything wearing those tight body shaper clothes.

Ah yes, I have seen one such costume here at the store last year. You know I am quite thin and boney. One of my cousins took me to an outlet where they sell such costumes which would either hide or even make you look fatter/healthier. The one which I saw (referred by my cousin) had some paddings in such a way that if I wore it, I would look to have more of flesh and not the bones. Based on this, I guess the same techniques would be used by the clothes you saw on Tele - for the oversize people - maybe paddings at other places so that the buldges hide and look symmetrical. Personally, I love my body as it is and never cared to dress up or even use any cosmetic. I think such clothes would do more harm in Indian climate which is hotter and sultrier as those paddings definitely are things to stay away from.

I have seen padded clothes which can make you appear fatter, but since they do not compress the flesh I think it could be easier wearing those ones. Whereas the body shaper clothes...uff! It must be really hard to fit in to those clothes. Since I am bedridden I have put on too much of weight. Some due to medicines and rest due to zero physical activity and lots of butter and cheese. You are right, those clothes can be a bit of a problem due to Indian climatic conditions. So better to stay away from them.

Yeah, I have seen such commercials too. Women in the shaper clothes do appear more slim. But as a matter of fact, they are a little harmful to your body. You cannot move your body freely. Anyway, wearing shaper clothes for few times is acceptable. To appear gorgeous in your clothes, you need to learn some tips. Here is the link of a fashion blog: http://www.fancyprom.co.uk/fashion-guide/ you may have a look at it and get some inspiration.
