It's been a while, when a friend of ours visited Philippines. We greeted "Maligayang Pagdating", she looks strange. Thus, I greeted her back again in English. "Maligayang Pagdating" means a warmth welcome for the visitors or tourists who set foot in the Philippines. I am sure, the other nations do the same thing. In Russia: dobro pokhalovat,Spanish: bienvenido, China: huanying, Hawaii: Aloha, etc. How about in your country? How do you address welcome to your visitors?

In Indonesian, this would be "selamat datang". we also have popular local language in Javanese called "sugeng rawuh". it has similar meaning with "welcome" or 'selamat datang'

In my country visitors also welcome the words "Maligayang Pagdating" In that way, we will impress our guest and visitors from another country.

For us, it was simply welcome. That was the last thing that the stewardesses on the plane that my brother and myself were on when we were coming back from our trip to France many years ago. I wish that there was a really fancy term that was used here to welcome friends and visitors to the country, but that just isn't something that is really done here. But still, the welcome to the United States is very nice.

Hello I come from Southern Philippines, and we welcome arriving guests as "Maayong Pag-abot" meaning, "Maligayang Pagdating". The latter are tagalog words tagalog is also called filipino which is our national language which we also speak in school and whenever we are in our capital city and in another places with different dialect. You know we have several dialects in the Philippines. I don't know how many but I guess, more than 10 dialects.
