I had badly wanted to do some freelancing job, especially related to writing or blogging, but till now I have been unsuccessful. I have tried many sites, but i have actually failed to win a bid. The problem is the employers want experienced writers and unless we get a chance, how can we have experience. If anybody have had a positive experience, do share it.

Have you tried any writing sites like ExpertsColumn, Hubpages, Helium and etc?? If you are a beginner, I suggest you try out EC.. I think it is easier to write there than any other sites. Good luck!

I have heard that EC is going to be sold. So I would suggest that you confirm it first and then try to write on that site. It is because when the owners of the site changes there are many changes that they introduce. For a beginner they may or may not be easy to adopt. So if this is true I suggest you to write on other sites atleast for the timebeing. Best luck friend...! Have a nice time...!

I don't write for the freelance sites because it's to competitive to win bids. Plus you must have some know how on how to win bidding jobs. What I do is write for the so called content mills the pay is low but you can earn a good income if you are willing to work and learn. Once you have some experience and know what it take to write good content for the web then you can go back and try bidding for work on the freelance bidding sites. Most of the time its just that a new writer doesn't know the lingo or the knowledge of winning bids.

You have a very valid point there. I think I would start of with some content mill site and then slowly upgrade myself. I hope that strategy would work out.

If you want to make a few pennies you can try hubpages, triond, etc. But if you want to make a hundred dollars from any of these you must be able to create 50-60 unique write ups everyday (for at least 100 days). And this also does not guarantee that you will make it to a 100. And for freelancing jobs you must have came across freelancer, elance and other such sites, but it is really hard to win a bid as there is much competition and many people are ahead of you and have better chances to win a bid (as they have plenty of bids to exhaust and nice employer's reviews showcased on their portfolios). I recently won a bid and working on it but it came after many weeks of hard work.
